Thread: Two monkeys enter....

  1. Yes Super Monkey Ball is a great game. It was definitely the best game available at the Gamecube launch.

  2. excellent post, magnifiedplaid. you summed up my feelings on both games perfectly. i do happen to like the horrible cutscenes in monkey ball 2, though..

    so. in conclusion. get both.

  3. Just get the original. The sequel seemed like it was designed by the interns working at AV.

  4. My prediction is that the cut scenes in Super Monkey Ball 2 have a better plot than the Dead Or Alive movie

This man is correct. Get the first one. You'll save some cash as well.

  6. I'd go so far as to say the single player in Monkey Ball 2 is flat out awful. It seriously captures none of the feeling or fun of the first, and two stages in particular (launchers and arthropod) will have you flinging your GC against the wall. Gimmiky, frustrating....

The first game is one of the top 5 on the GC. Get it.

  7. I've put more hours into SMB1 than any other GC game I own, so get that first. If you still crave more Monkey Ball action, then pick up SMB2 later.

I still haven't bought the second one for myself, (a friend had it when it came out) but with the recent price drop I may finally have to pick it up.

  8. You know NOTHING, Despair! NOTHING! IN CAPITAL LETTERS, DAMMIT!

...I vote for the GBA version. It's a hell of a lot easier to play and more fun in some places, in my opinion. Never did play #2...
