How Important are Game Endings to you?

You know how people say "man that ending sucked" isn't the game more important? Even with that said I love long endings for games more so if it is a RPG story driven game, I think those games benifit most from a ending or reward. I remember back in the day how disapointed I was when I finished the Sega Master System Shinobi and saw what happened.

  2. If all games had endings that were comparable to Mega Man 2...the world would be a better place I think.

  3. Going all the way through a game needs some payoff at the end. It doesn't even have to be a half hour long ending or something, just anything more than the credits rolling. Of course if the game itself is good well then that can pretty much be considered the payoff for putting time into it, but a good ending is a nice bonus.

  4. Endings certainly help a game's story make sense.

  5. yeah, if there's a good story to a game, i'd like a good ending to either cap the off the story or further develop it for a sequel or something. in games where i can care less for the story (like shmups), then i don't care whether or not they have good endings.

  6. ENdings are really the only reason for beating a game... why play a game, that has no ending..

  7. Re: How Important are Game Endings to you?

It really depends on the game. I don't play a shooter in order to see the ending. Anything story or character based though, needs to have some sort of closure at the end.

Although, a good shooter with a cool story mode and a nice ending would be one hell of a game As opposed to CONTRAGULATION!

  8. I loved Soul Reaver. It didn't have an end.

I loved Metroid Prime. Although I haven't gotten the 100% "good" ending. Samus just flew away.

A good ending is nice, but it's certainly not necessary.

I think the journey is more important than the ending.

  9. i used to be much more interested in videogame endings. in the nes days, they seemed much more impressive. after staring at a 16x16 sprite the whole game, a few full-screen shots of your character made the whole thing seem worthwhile.

and yes, mega man 2's ending completely rocks.)

  10. Does Prime really have a different ending after 100%?
