Just me, or really stupid AIM profiles/away messages?

my friend has really good ones that change daily... stuff like "If retarted people are so happy, why are we suposed to feel sorry for them? oh yeah, and I'm away."

1) Why get mad about it? Its been buggin the hell out of me for about 2 years now. Also my sister does it and leaves AIM on all the time, so Im always seeing her away message and it makes me mad with here stupid shit.

2) Why do I put Baldurs Gate away message on? First it doesnt say exactly "Im a geek ass bitch", that was an example. People always IM me while Im playing games, they minimize, I get pissed eh? Even so I didnt use them, but then my friend kept bitching for me to put an away message on.

I said I dont need to know everyones daily life... then someone says something like we dont need to know yours either. Im just playing and using one message, not changing with my every move. "Im at the computer", "Im walking up the steps", "Im at the mall", "Im doing my homework".

I just prefer to log off at that point, only away messages while playing games, this is one from my list. "Playing AHL"

Thats just the profile, then the away message will say something like: "Im around/sleeping/taking a shower/etc."

Well usually I just say I am either away, or I say I'm playing Counter-Strike or some other game online, and give the IP. That's the only use I can find...

Question, What the hell is the purpose of having an attention grabber of an away message? You think they are going to sit there dwelling on how your jerking off to their girlfriend?

Also, I don't even bother with an AIM profile...

Uhh attention grabber doesn't neccesarily mean I expect the to be dwelling. More along the lines of people tend to respond to a message like that. I come home with like twenty responses, and I dig that so thats why I put up shitty messages sometimes.

I admit it sucks when people leave messages telling you where they are, but ever stop to think that the message ain't for you? Like I know when I go out on a friday or a saturday and my friends aren't ready to do shit yet I leave a message up so they know where to find me.

Its convenient.

So basically what you're saying is that every function of AIM is useless. You say away messages are useless, profiles are useless, the only thing you haven’t complained about is instant messaging itself and even then does anyone even care what you have to say. It would seem that you, Ojisan, do not so I would imagine that others feel the same.
