Thread: Nintendo Fights Back

  1. Nintendo Fights Back

    CNN

here are the main things about the article.

"Nintendo is already considering a bundle between the Game Boy Player and the GameCube this fall."

"Shigeru Miyamoto agreed with criticism that the [Super Mario Sunshine] game was too hard. ... The word has since come from up high to make games less challenging."

"[Nintendo's E3] focus will be on third-party titles, rather than homegrown Nintendo games."

"Harrison's gut feeling is online Nintendo games are 'probably a few years away.'"

i think Nintendo would be better off doing a GBA/SP bundle then a GB Player bundle.

as for making games easier, im okay with that. difficulty doesn't equal fun to me. games can be easy and fun.
still, if gameplay has to be dumbed down to make a game easier, or more simple, then fuck that.

about the focusing on third party, what's new? maybe we'll just see more results at this years E3 if anything.

the online gaming thing sorta hurts, but go figure.

one thing that i don't get, 3rd party support being Nintendo's main focus at E3. what's that about? whatever happen to more new franchises then old ones? and the GBA/GameCube Connectivity?

  2. Maybe Nintendo just realises they can't do it on their own, and should embrace third party software.

    maybe?

you'd think Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear would have been obvious enougn.

    Err...

"Harrison's gut feeling is online Nintendo games are 'probably a few years away.'"
    Err...

  5. They probably thought the block jumping was too hard, which it was in most stages. The block jumping in that level with the windmill was outrageous.

I eventually got it though, it just takes patience, but most new gamers don't have patience and they bang more for their buck then people who do.

  6. Oh.

Well Bowser was a pretty big joke but the volcano platforming stage to get to him was no picnic. Great game, though. I liked it a lot.

  7. sunshine being too challenging should really be the least of his worries...
he should be concerned about making the next mario game not suck in general.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

I thought the challenge was just right, but a far cry from certain areas of previous SMB games.

Easier games = ass, but luckily Nintendo can make easy = fun (Wind Waker).

I'll see, I guess. We NEED hard games once in a while, though. Thank god for Treasure.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

  9. Sunshine was hard? Except for that stupid lava boat at the end, and some camera foibles during the void minigames, I thought the game was really easy.

Not everyone is an uber-gamer, dude. My mom had no problem with Mario 64 or TOOT, but SMS was too tough for her.
