Thread: MessengerApp

  1. I disabled it in msconfig, then renamed the Progam Files folder to 'fuckyoumessengeryousuck'.

  2. Zone Alarm stops those annoying pop ups as well.

that could have some adverse effects. if you really did change the name of the folder (which you prolly didnt ), you should switch it back.

    file associations and whatnot.
why did you call the messenger service "Bastard Software"? it comes standard with windows. its not the software thats bad, its the spammer/advertiser/whatever. think before you speak. or type for that matter.

  5. Those things still don't work. I use Pop-Up Stopper. Apparently people have found how to send msgs even when it's disabled. Ever since I got that program...all traces of pop-ups, including the ones used through Windows Messenger do not bother me anymore

I'm using Trillian myself. Last night I got a fucking spammer advertising some "pr0n" site (I believe it was through ICQ's or MSNIM's service). I tried to type a quick Get Lost message to her, but she'd already disconnected.

What did I do? I checked my Privacy preferences in Trillian as follows:

AIM: Allow only users on contact list
MSN: Move "All Other Users" to the block list
ICQ: Accept messages only from users on contact list, Do not accept WWPager messages, Do not accept Email Express messages.

    Pop-Up Stopper is great, IMHO.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

I changed the name of the folder because that's the easiest way to disable Messenger. I know that this causes no adverse effects, sans shutting Messenger the hell up.

I think that's the first time anyone has ever given me tech advice without me asking for it, heh.

There seems to be a nasty spyware program called MessengerApp that has nothing to do with Windows Messenger. Spyware removal tools haven't removed it from my system, so I've just had to use pop-up stopper as well.
