Thread: State of the Fighting Game

  1. Pa, that avatar is hilarious!! Kudos to you

I pretty much agree with ya. The only fighter I'm looking forward to right now is SVC on MVS. Ittttt might be ass graphically, but I hope it plays great. Matrimelee looks not really my thing. I played the GGX but I didnt like it much, too button mashing IMO.

I'm gonna invest some time into VF4:Evo though, prolly the only 3D fighter I actually enjoyed playing.
    !

  2. VF4 is certainly excellent. It's just not for me. I wish it was too because I dig Brad Burns and I've always dug that little drunken man. Too bad I'm drawing blank on his name. Shun?

  3. Shun di it is. Hilarious character, and you can do some neat combos with him.

Exactly. Even if SF4 remained 2D and got high res, what else would there be to offer? All we'd end up getting is a prettier Third Strike and nothing more.

As much as I'm expecting SVC Chaos, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't offer anything groundbreaking.

  6. Oh hey! Thanks for the compliment on my new avatar. Let's have a contest! First one to guess where it's from gets their choice of one of the following brand new games:

    Soul Calibur 2 JPS2
    VF4 Evo JPS2
    KoF2000 JPS2
    Guilty Gear XX USPS2
    Marvel vs Capcom 2 USPS2
    CvS 2 EO USXBOX

You only get one clue: That avatar is taken from the manual of a tremendously shitty game.

That's what I thought about SFIII coming off the Alpha series. There's still room for improvement and change, I never would've thought of parrying beforehand.

i think its most important innovation has been all the added modes it has

it adds life to a fighter

i mean most fighters can be beaten in 20 - 30 minutes and the fact that they have great replay value doesnt seem to do much for this current generation of gamers

i think added modes like GGXX saw on its home release and maybe more of them could help sell a fighter to this current generation

and i agree about SvC Chaos if they want to pull in a crowd they need to have it be at least garou level animation and all but i could have sworn the reason Garou had so few characters was because the cart was bassicaly full to the brim and they maxed out cart sizes that the neo could handle

to do that with alot of characters theyre going to have to write some really impressive compression algorithms
    Where I play

  10. I was just thinking... I have not once played GGXX in any other mode than vs. I have no idea what any of the other modes may be. But I never play a fighting game against the CPU. Are there extra multiplayer modes? Just asking because I'm too lazy to go next door and look for myself.

Oh yeah, free stuff, contest. See list above!
