Well, the original Patriot Act was drafted to expire in three years... afterwards it would be nil. Sure, three years of it is bad enough, but still..

Anyway, the Senate was talking recently about extending it indefinitely, and this is likely where the opposition is coming from. Its definitely slimy, what they are doing, and some of these old-guard GOP leaders HAVE TO GO (like Orrin Hatch).

Dif, according to you, every comment I've ever made on the history of this board is retarded. The purpose of my comment (and yes, there is one, I know that's a huge shock) was to use the Patriot Act as an example of Bush's incompitent leadership, which is one of the key complaints I've seen brought against him by other nations.

It would be repealed in theory. There's a Historical precident for an act like this and it took crushing defeat at Allied hands to repeal it among other things.
