It's kind of hard not to since Vectorman looks so....... un Vector-like.
I don't see any reason why the game can't turn out good. Does it look like what most people would picture a modern Vectorman to be? Not really.. but it's not that far off. His face looks similar. Plus, Vectorman was kinda funny looking anyway. It's not like he's some classic character design:
I agree with your first comment but he does look far off, imo. Your other points are valid though.
If he looked like the Vectorman on this cover, I'd have nothing to complain about but what we're seeing is anything but. So his face sorta resembles of original Vectorman yet everything else is all blocky with sharp edges. That's NOT Vectorman but a poor 3D represantation.

Some people will complain no matter what they get. If the new Vectorman looked exactly like the original game's concept art then people would be complaining about how they never liked the original game or that he was always stupid looking.
I agree but I wouldn't consider myself one of those people. I spend more time defending than criticizing most games and only point out things that I find terribly wrong. Oh, and if people didn't like the original games than Sega shouldn't be catering to them. Satisfy the 100's of thousands of consumers that bought and enjoyed the first two.

We don't know what the gameplay will be like. We don't know how it will play or what it will look like in motion. Maybe the "balls" will somehow be incorporated into the game, even tho' they're not apparent in the screens. Or.. It might "feel" like Vectorman......

Or maybe not. Who knows. It's way to early to say one way or the other.
One can only hope and pray.

People complained so much when they first saw the newest Zelda and Metroid.. and in the long run most fans seemed happy with those games. Point is not to judge games based on 2 screenshots.
    Not I

Also, why jump to conclusions about Sega just slapping the name Vectorman on this game? Vectorman is not a very well known commodity so it's not like, say, the latest Pitfall game or something. Sega comes up with plenty of original titles (including two new ones at E3 = Dororo and Kunoichi), so if this was nothing more than an original title there is no reason to believe that Sega would just slap the title on an unrelated game. Will it turn out to be nothing at all like Vectorman? Maybe.. maybe not. Time will tell... but you certainly cannot tell one way or the other from two screens. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Based on the description it sounds like it could be a decent game.

    *shrug*
    Fair enough.

  2. I loved the first shots of Prime and Wind Waker, I just don't see much resemblance to the original games in any form in the materials and info on the game now. If they give the new character design a bit more of a rounded-off appearance, that would help matters.

Well, in fairness "vector" does not mean "balls".

I agree with the point that he basically went from rounded to blocky though. I agree and think it would make more sense if he looked more like his old self.. but meh, I just don't think it's too big of a deal. the new version looks just ok, the old version was just ok.. it's all "ok".

I just hope the game is fun because I feel there is some potential there.

I know but still. He doesn't look "Vectorman-like". Is that good But I hope it turns out good. I actually liked the other two games and also believe there's potential. If it's playable at E3, I shall see for myself

  5. but vectorman was named such for being made of vector balls.

I just say that all we seen of Vectorman PS2 is just 2 bad quality screenshots, and people already say it SUCKS or will suck. I'm not saying that it wont suck when it comes out, but at least wait till it does. As for designs, its your personal decision. If you dont like designs, its your business.
I'm just giving you a hard time. I know you don't judge based on the console.

Looking over their list of releases, I can't pick any winners except for the HOTD games.
    I totally agree with this.

And Vectorman... why!? Everything Diffusion said about it is pretty much ace.

Except it doesn't... and Master Cheif is just Phobos in disguise. He was fired at Id and landed a job at Bungie... belive me... we're close.
    o_O

  8. I think it does look a little like Vectorman.... if you were to cross him with Optimus Prime.

But really, is the Vectorman license so strong that it can sell this new game? I know Vectorman was a great game, but is the license that strong? Did it sell that many units?

The only reason I can see taking a totally different game and slapping an existing license on it is if the original license is strong (eg, Super Mario Brothers 2 and Legendary Axe 2).
    No gnus is good gnus.

  9. sega actually made a wise decision. i mean, what do you think would sell more: a master chief rip off or a guy made of balls?

*AUTOBOTS! ROLL OUT!* Optimus should do a cameo.
You know...he does. Now all we need is to find out that the new PS2 Transformers game is actually not a transformers game at all, but a sequel to the old 16 bit fighter "Ballz". It would all make perfect sense then.
