thats cute
so i've decided to go with the 1974 Suzuki GT 185.
it might not be the fastest thing out there, but i won't ever have to go that fast. and look at how nice it is.
thats cute
Geezus, that thing is a monster! You could own with that bike though, tap someone else and they'd go flying! I don't have any money right now, but sometime in the next 3 years or so, I'd like to get an all black and silver/chrome bike + matching gear and start my own girl bike gang. Here's to wishingIndeed that is sweet bike...more power than reasonable people would ever need though. If you really want to own the road though, you need one of these:
Dodge Tomahawk 500 HP 0-60 in 2.5 sec
Okay, so technically it has 4 wheels, but still.!
The Dodge Tomahawk is essentially a Viper engine with wheels. How great is that?
Thread ressurection-get!
I've been getting into bikes (aka reading up on them on the 'net for all of my free time) lately, and I'm finally getting psyched about purchasing a cheap one come the dawn of next year.
My interests have been mostly small-medium displacement naked standard bikes. If you don't know, it's basically in between sport and cruisers (and "naked" meaning without fairings). This isn't to say that I don't like sport bikes or cruisers; I think that they are also nice looking. Sis' boyfriend has a Yamaha R6, and I think it's beautiful. From what I've seen, Suzuki has some excellent affordable standards from the '90's that aren't displacement monsters.
Among my favorites are the GS500:
GSF400:
And the out-of-my-range SV650:
I'm leaning towards the slower bikes, because I have no two-wheel experience other than on bicycles. I'm definitely going to take an MSF course, which has been reccomended by every forum I've been to.
Also on the subject of safety, what gear does everyone use? Full suits? Full face/beanie/no helmets? I plan on getting mostly Joe Rocket... I've heard that they make some really nice apparel. Leathers are way too expensive, and I like the idea of being able to throw everything in the washer.
Edit: Picture didn't work.
the GSF is a very nice ride, but for your first bike, i'd strongly recommend getting something no more than $2,000.
you can get a late 80's bike in nearly mint condition for that much. the main benefits there are, well, you're going to drop your bike, and it's gonna hurt a lot, but atleast you won't be crying as you pick it up because of a potential scratch. and trust me, if you get a nice enough bike, you're definitely going to cry as you're picking it up.
also um...don't take this the wrong way, but everyone is pretty much guarenteed to eat hard shit atleast once, like, to the poinbt were your bike will get wrecked, so once again, losing a $2,000 bike compared to a $5,000+ bike won't be anywhere near as bad.
um...so yeah, you might want to look into that.
as for clothing, just make sure you have some kind of thick jacket. leather is always good (also for shoes).
aside from that though, enjoy man! it's easily gonna be the most fun you have in your life.
oh, and yes, Suzuki = #1
2004 Suzuki GSX-R
Don't worry, I'm definitely getting used. I've seen a few GS500's on Autotrader for less than $2k for early-mid '90's models.
And I know that I'm going to drop it. Everyone does. That's another plus of not having any fairings to scratch up.
oh, don't forget to get pegs either. they annoy the shit out of some people, but honestly, you can barley notice they, and well, they're definitely worth having. they really do pretty much take all the damage when the bike gets dropped.
anyways, once again, enjoy man, most fun you'll have in your whole life.
