Right, because Nintendo finally making online play accessible themselves is worthless. [/sarcasm] Having outside groups make offline games online is wonderful, but having out-of-the--box production and support is the way it should be in the first place.

Yes, I read your posts on that, but with no confirmation of LAN through the BBA of course the discussion is going to be about Nintendo's lack of online support. Do you think people sat around looking at Halo screenshots before it was released going, "I sure hope we can hack the possible LAN setup for online!" No.

This is good news, yes. But it doesn't mean casual gamers will buy it because of online, because it's not "included." Having Nintendo themselves do the online for this would boost sales, and it certainly couldn't hurt it.

  2. Mech, that is quite true, as I said in the other thread. The sad thing is, this is probably the best we're going to get out of Nintendo for the forseeable future.
    matthewgood fan
    lupin III fan

  3. If Halo can't make me go through the GameSpy/XBConnect crap to play online, Mario Kart sure as fuck won't

Playing through XBConnect is supposedly very laggy anyway.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  4. Check List:

    Cable Modem
    BBA
    Mario Kart

    this will be excellent...

hey, i never said that was the smart thing to do. shit, i've been saying more then anyone that Nintendo really needs to start throwing around some serious money.
but just because they aren't, doesn't mean im gonna sit there and bitch about it, cause it's not gonna change anything.
like i've been saying forever, the main question should've always been, will the LAN support be via BBA, cause that's always been the only chance we have for online play.

of course they fuckin did. i mean, we've been doing exactly what you just desribed since before pictures of Double Dash were released were we not?

  6. Don't get me wrong, I've been wishing for this and this is extremely cool and all but I wish it was on 56k. I guess you can't please everyone though.

  7. Ha, you're living in the Stone Age, my friend.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

That's not what he's saying. What, do you have a wedgie or something?

The context of his statement is something like "People weren't checking what Nintendo was going to use for LANing Cubes together. If it's the rumored Bluetooth and not the BBA, we're screwed for tunneling."

Having outside groups make offline games online is wonderful, but having out-of-the--box production and support is the way it should be in the first place.
This is true. However, in the absence of Nintendo's official support, this is the best we're going to get. Since we are not getting official support for it, Nintendo is including this LAN play via the broadband adapter as a work-around -- they know people are going to write tunneling software.

Do you think people sat around looking at Halo screenshots before it was released going, "I sure hope we can hack the possible LAN setup for online!" No.
Uh, right. Go talk to some hacker-types for a bit, you'll figure out pretty quickly that they like to monkey around with things they're not "supposed" to. The first thing I thought of when Nintendo said "MK LAN" was "tunneling".

This is good news, yes. But it doesn't mean casual gamers will buy it because of online, because it's not "included." Having Nintendo themselves do the online for this would boost sales, and it certainly couldn't hurt it.
Word-of-mouth will spread. Watch and see. There will be a LOT of people going online with this.

  10. But doesnt Halo GameSpy suck ass with any more than like 3 players?
