So the creators of the matrix actually grafted all of those things directly from the various references that guy brings up? =\Hmm, a lot of that went right over my head, but I, too, liked these explanations.

Huh, hadn't thought of that. Not coincidentally, most of the people in Zion seem to be black or Hispanic, which makes perfect sense: If you're a white suburban Matrix resident, driving your Matrix SUV to your Matrix golf club, why doubt the nature of reality?

But they've been had. They're not "freeing willing minds." What they're doing is helping the machines by weeding out the .01% who will eventually reject the matrix.Originally posted by Regus
What better way to change something than from the inside? They enter the matrix in order to free more minds, which is something that can only be done from within the system, because we all know what happens when some one is unplugged in the real world. Freeing minds is the main goal which drives everything they do.
When the number of people who reject it gets to a substantial amount, Zion is destroyed.
Zion isn't a real world place, but a second layer to the matrix. It keeps the .01% hopeful, and thus commited to their purpose: freeing new, willing minds.
That is why Zion must be remade after it's destruction. It facilitates the weeding process for the machines.
The Agents have no significant purpose. They create the illusion that the machines do not want the humans meddeling in the matrix, when they, in fact, do. Agent Smith has discovered this, which is why he's trying to stop The One. If he could have stopped The One the system would have collapsed in on itself, as the One is the program used to reset the system itself.
That's why Smith was mouthing off about "purpose." Neo stole his purpose. Now, he has no purpose and is stuck in the matrix as a usless program. Eventually Neo will realize that Smith is trying to stop the system, and join whith him.
See above. They fight agents and over come other obstacles because they are getting the way of accomplishing this goal.
P.S. This post is purely speculative...but it makes lot's of sence.
In the first one, didn't Neo bounce off the ground? Actually, that was really stupid.Originally posted by MVS
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly trinity's master plan was.
Okay, if I jump out this window, and shoot thing guy falling down, I'll die when I hit the ground but he'll probably shoot me anyways...
Pretty weak plot device, sans clark kent of course.

CV: I somehow doubt that the writers will reveal that Zion is really just a secondary prison for humans.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
everyone is talking about the idea of a matrix within a matrix, which is understandable, from what was given in the film. however, i think that would be a very dumb, not to mention a big copout-that-will-surprise-no-one idea. i really hope and believe the wachowski brothers did not go with this idea. i could be wrong, though.
'Matrix' Actor Marcus Chong Sues Over Tank Role
...so is this why Tank was killed off?
yeah, i was thinking about that, too. maybe she was thinking that if she braced herself, the impact wouldnt hurt her too much, and she'd be able to get away. but since she got a bullet in the stomach (chest?), this disrupted her and she lost concetration.Originally posted by MVS

or maybe she knew that Neo would save her? :whoa:
I really enjoyed the film. Some "wire-fu" problems with actors having no clue how to make the fighting look good, and some bad dialogue/acting ("You can never know truly know someone until you fight them" ugh) but a great fun film overall.
What Equilibrium wishes it could have been.
PS: Though clearly much weaker plot than the first Matrix.
That's what my post about tank is about a few posts ago.Originally posted by Shinobi128

Captain Veg: Very good explaination.
I saw the burly brawl again and I must say, it's still really fucking cool. Neo knocks the hell out of a few of them.
Compare this installment of the series to the twelth or thirteenth episode in a season of 24. It was transitional. The pacing could have been better, sure, but the movie itself was really only there to switch rails; take us from the beginning to the end.
I'll be honest and say that at first I though the Wachowski's pulled a Lucas and were just trying for a cash run off of something they hadn't originally planned out as a continued series. If you care to think back, you might remember serious discussion way back when of this second movie actually being the prequel (way back before so much as story board were drawn up, and the only thing going on in the way of pre-prodution was brainstorming).
I think, and I hope, that whatever the Wachowski's ended up planning to take the series out needed more explanation than what a half hour movie intro could cover, and that's why we have this. If this is the cas then, in the end, I'll see it as a very worthy piece of the triology, and a pivotal one at that.
Oh, and just in case, I wouldn't try laying down a definitive philosophy that the Wachowski's drew from making these flicks. One could take anything from the book of Revelation to Plato's The Cave and have it fit in many, many ways. As limp wristed as it sounds, and boy does it ever when actually saying it out loud, I think the idea was to make something people could think through and take their own meaning away from it, rather than trying to make someone else's fit.
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.
Well, Duh . Neo is Superman now. Trinity assumed that Neo can just fly back and save her ass just like he did with Morpheus and Keymaker on Freeway. And I agree with Matt the whole falling sequence was ridiculous - Two characters SLOOOOOOWLY falling and FIIIIIRING. Not hitting each other in 10 feet distance. I thought machines were much better shooter than thatOriginally posted by Rhydant

They werent in the REAL Matrix. Just a training simulation, so thats why it only hurt a bit. Plus he is NEOOriginally posted by Andrew

Give EQ budged of Reloaded, it could have been amazing.
I thought it was pretty good myself, it didn't have the same effect the first Matrix had when I watched that one... still a good action flick though

who the fuck on this thread would actually think that the ideas of using werewolves would be a GOOD thing?I thought it would've been cool to see a werewolf in it, but then again I love werewolves

i downloaded reloaded but i have not been able to force myself to watch it again. it just isn't worth my time.
The more I think about it, Reloaded is a freaking amazing story trapped inside a movie that fell victim to way too many focus groups, shareholder meetings, and the like. Soooooo much more could have been done with the movie part (and in places soooooo much less could have and should have been done), but there's no denying how cool the plot twists are.
But when a movie is this big, and this much money is put into it, there's certain chances you can't afford to take. Unfortunatly, those chances need to be taken to make a great movie.
This post proves along with your others that it is in fact you that lives inside the Matrix..Originally posted by Despair

"why the heck did they release two different cuts of The Matrix Reloaded into theatres? Luckily, I saw the mind blowing astonishing one...though, it seems a lot of folks got stuck with the not so epic one. hmmmm... "
I read this somewhere. Anyone know what the differences are between the two, if its true?

Yeah, it was a training simulation. And no, it wasn't just because he's Neo...as Joey Pants said (can't remember his name in the movie) "Nobody ever makes it their first time."They werent in the REAL Matrix. Just a training simulation, so thats why it only hurt a bit. Plus he is NEO

Sypher was my favorite character in the first.
