Thread: Matrix Reloaded

  1. Do any of you think the Oracle is working together with the Architect and the rest of the machines? I don't think so. I think she's more of a free agent. Same with Seraph.

  2. I've got to say, MR was a lot like Attack of the Clones.

I was let down, thinking the hype would suceed, but it's actually made me appreciate the first movie more.

Both TPM and Matrix are better than there sequels.

So periodically the machines must destroy Zion as a crude form of population control. But the machines cannot destroy Zion entirely, or else the entire Matrix would collapse. Instead they allow previous incarnations of the One to start Zion anew, and perhaps erasing the memories of the survivors. In fact if Zion never existed, the machines would probably have to create it -- perhaps Zion as it exists in the real world was created by machines?
I think Zion and its inhabitants/"warriors" are pretty much completely independant of the Matrix. If Zion were to explode in a big ball of flame it would have no ramifications on the Matrix at all.Like I said earlier I dont really think Zion was created by machines either as they were trying really hard to find a way to it/its codes in the first film. If they created it you'd think they'd have a clue of its location.

i don't think she's working for them, per se, but i do think she's part of the program of the prophecy of the one that leads him (neo) to the source in order to reload the matrix. i think she knows this and that is why she suggested that neo should not trust anyone, not even her.

Kinda hard to tell really as im sure she told all of the other "ones" the same thing she told Neo.So that would prove she is just a simple program doing what shes told by the machines. Although Im sure she felt Neo was going to be different because of his love for Trinity. Hard to say <shrugs>

no, she's not. that's why she's hiding out. the agents are after her because she is a rogue program.

  9. Also, in response to the "how come no one fears agents anymore?" comments.

If you spent all your time fighting along side Neo, I think you'd pick a thing or two about how to take on an Agent, plus, you wouldn't be as apprehensive as before, now that you had the knowledge that they were not invincible.

And as to why Morpheus took on that one agent atop the train head on, well, I think you would too, if your civilization were about to be destroyed within a matter of hours, and your only hope of preventing this was being threatened by an Agent.

How do you know there wasnt a program written for her to always be running from the agents and a program written for them to always be chasing her? What better way to lure in Neo , Trinity, Morpheus, etc. to her than for them to see her always running, avoiding, and hiding from the agents. They wouldnt trust her if she did otherwise.

  11. that's a big what if. i really doubt that, but these wachowski brothers are kinda fucked up, so i won't be surprised if that's revealed in the third movie. they seem to just pull the story out of their asses. in other words, it stinks like shit.

  12. They don't fear the Agents yet still get their asses kicked by them. How many agents were beaten in the movie? 0.

Both Trinity and Morpheus got owned in their fights and had to have Neo save them. The one thing I don't get is, how come they can hit agents? Trinity and Morpheus both his the Agents several times in their fights and in the first one, hitting the agents was considered a huge feat. Are the evolving? I think the whole story is a bit cheesy, to be honest.

Physically hitting an Agent with your fists isn't a major feat, Morpheous got a few hits off on Smith in the first film, it's hitting them with bullets thats a problem.

As of right now, the only person who can take out an Agents using hand to hand fighting is Neo, any one else needs to use other methods, such as heavy explosives, electricity or other heavy artillery.

  14. And even Neo cant really destroy angents(he just knocked them out in MR), since they have been upgraded. Or he just doesnt want to, since he afraid that they migh become something simular to Agent Smith.

  15. Shit, this is suprising- considering it's huge debut, I thought Reloaded would hold onto the top spot a bit longer:

    'Almighty' Topples 'Matrix'
    May 27, 7:07 AM EST

HOLLYWOOD (AP) -- The Jim Carrey comedy "Bruce Almighty" reigned at the box office in its opening weekend, taking in $86.4 million and easily surpassing "The Matrix Reloaded" as the No. 1 movie of the Memorial Day weekend.

"The Matrix" sequel earned $45.6 million to place a distant No. 2 in its second week of release, according to studio estimates Monday.

Attendance for "The Matrix Reloaded," which has collected $209.5 million since its powerhouse debut May 14, shrunk by 60 percent — suggesting "The Matrix" is unloading quickly.

Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations Co., characterized the performance of "Bruce Almighty" as a "definite surprise."

The comedy stars Carrey as a regular guy who receives the powers of God (played by Morgan Freeman) after complaining too much about life. Before getting his comeuppance, Bruce uses the abilities to look up women's dresses, torment his work rival and teach his dog to use the toilet.

"We all thought this would be a big weekend, but the question was — would "Bruce Almighty' top 'The Matrix?'" Dergarabedian said. "Jim Carrey in a broad comedy like this is pretty much unstoppable."
Still, $209.5 million so far for Reloaded...that's a lotta dough.

  16. weird, considering i saw bruce almighty this past weekend, and there wasn't that many people there for it.

  17. I was pretty sure that following week after release viewer percentage would drop, but thats pretty high drop. When I saw MR many people in the audience werent that thrilled with it, and I guess that would affect repeated viewings.

It will still make a lot of money, but it didnt turned out all it wanted to be, I guess.

  18. Well, look at it this way, both Reloaded and Revolutions cost around 300 million to make, Reloaded alone has already grossed 200 million, they'll more than make up for it once Revolutions hits.

  19. Dude, Reloaded's up to over 200 million already and it's only it's second week of release. I think it'll (at the very least) make up that 300 mil with this movie alone and Revolutions will be pure profit.

One thing I'm curious about...I was driving in my car before, and a weird thought hit me- how is birth handled in the Matrix? I mean, two people do the nasty, the girl gets pregnant, but in reality they're both sealed up in their little pods nowhere near each other. Yet in the Matrix they have a kid who grows up and is (I assume) another person in a pod somewhere jacked into the Matrix like everyone else. I wonder how this works? Does the program that runs the Matrix keep track of the human infants that the machines "grow" in the real world and, when a woman is knocked up in the Matrix, somehow creates a digital version of the kid and sticks it in her womb?

If you think about it, there's lots of little odd things that you could think about. Sure, humans have to have free will in order for them to accept the Matrix, but when that free will causes wars that kill thousands, thus robbing the machines of thousands of "batteries" in the real world. You have to wonder if the programs may step in at some point to change things to prevent stuff like that...

  20. Some good points there, Dolemite. Plus, How big is the world of Matrix? Is it ONE huge city with surrounding areas, or its a WHOLE world. If its a BIG world, then HOW COME all the action takes place in same 1 city? If its just one huge metropolis, do the people aware that there is world outside of the city?
