Despite the administration's best efforts, a whole lot of kids are going to be getting really, really drunk tomorrow.

Slope Day's a Cornell tradition where the entire school converges on a big slope to drink and celebrate the end of classes. By mid-afternoon the on-campus hospital is full of alcohol poisoning victims and other fun things like that.

Do you guys have any semi-official drinking holidays where you're from?

Ithaca, NY, about 4 hours away from NY State. The place is not rad at all for 8 months of the year, it's cold, and nasty. People work too hard, girls come to class in North face winter jackets and sweatclothes, math grad students commit suicide, stuff like that.

At some point in April, the sun comes out, and it gets really nice for about two weeks - all of our pent-up radness gets spent on one good day. The girls unleash 6 inch long shorts with "Cornell" printed on the ass and stuff like that. There are frats that go out onto the slope at 7am to start drinking, stuff like that.

Last Slope Day I drank a liter of Wild Turkey 100 proof. I'm going conservative tomorrow, though, just beer, Grolsch, although I'm starting early.

They have to board up just about everything in sight, the libraries, stores, things like that.

Actually, before this year, Ithaca used to basically just ignore the 21-and-over law for drinking on Slope Day. For some reason, one day out of the year, the police wouldn't arrest anyone for underaged drinking - I had a picture of me with a 40oz shaking hands with a cop from 1999. I think that's pretty much over, though, now.

I slept for an entire day last year, too, after Slope Day - sleeping off the effects from about Friday 8pm until Saturday 11pm. Heheh, every once in a while I think coming here was worth it.

Ahh, I love those shorts. But this is Southern California - I see girls with those on in the middle of December. Heaven on Earth, I tell ya. Im not dissing your school Stone, but Im glad I got rejected from Cornell.

There was a big drinking day on campus here, but I think they canned it for next year. Boo-urns.

Ever do anything like get drunk before class? I did it but once - downed six shots in the 30 minutes before class. By the time I got to the building, I was pretty noticeably intoxicated. I did fine in class though, had a quiz and everything. It was fucking great. I have to do that again...
