A lot of Genesis/MegaDrive owns I speak to, even the casual ones knew of GunstarHeros.
I tell anyone who asks about gamecube releases about Ikaruga and they say "Ah yes, I have heard of that"
Logically, anyone who dident have a MegaDrive wouldent know.
Why should they. Considering Ikaruga is a 2d style shmup being released on the latest hardware it IS well known. Of course all the people who are only interested in brand name games wont know about it, or it goes through one ear and out the other. But compare it to say other shmup realises on current day systems.
Shikigami?
Dodonpachi?
Gradius?
Even R-type gets me strange looks, but name something about to or recently released.... and people know.
Excuse me if I actually listen to some of the people that buy the game instead of looking at sales statistic.
Sales do not equal awareness of the game.
