Thread: Capcom Makes New Street Fighter

    Does it REALLY matter?
People find characters that have a set of moves they see as being useful, so they stick with the character from sequel to sequel.

I personally hope they do again what they did with SF3, drop 80% of the previous cast and introduce new blood. Makes the game feel more like a true sequel and less like a rehash.

EVERY character has "useful" moves, some more than others.

If people are too stubborn and ignorant to figure out how all of the characters work in relation to each other throughout the entire roster, that's their own goddamned fault. Evolve or die.

And quit bitching for dead characters.

  4. I kinda liked seeing Capcom scrap 90% of the SFII cast when designing SFIII. I like seeing people have to learn a new character roster. Although if they get rid of guys like Ryu and Ken, the game will likely be rejected by alot of people, even if they don't play as them.

    Er.... hmm....

Since nothing is known about the game so far, I do have one trivial yet understandable plea:

If the game is 2D, please don't use sprites on top of 3D backgrounds ala MvC2 or CvS2. It's uglier than sin and you know it, Capcom.

Its true that Ken has the axe kick and a few other added moves in SFIII, but you know that the average moron doesn't put these to use. Its the same old schtick: hadouken, hurricane kick, shoryuken. Its time to say goodbye to this crap.

Ryu, Ken, and Gouki need to be in there, theyre a very strong part of the story

  6. Ryu needs to kill Gouki, therefore turning Ryu evil, and he turns into the unplayable (until SF 4 Super Championship Mode) end boss.

There ya go, kill off one shoto, change another one and make him unplayable, and there's STILL a reason to have Ken in. Cuts down on the number of Shoto's, as well.

It also gives a reason for Sagat to come back, among others. As long as everyone is visibly older.

  7. I remember in one interview Capcom was asked about SF4 and they said if they did one they would be keep 2D to be like the rest of the series. I hope they don't go back on their word, but I'm not really expecting them to.

Another SF3 type treatment is in order. Keep Ry and Ken and drop the rest of the cast(A couple more returners could be ok, just keep them under 4). Capcom needs to get it right the first time too if this isn't gonna be an arcade game.

    Story?

Who cares what the average moron has done, and if they keep using the same tried technique then i take it youve mastered an excellent counter attack to it, in which the morons cant hold up to you right, i mean theyve been using it for so long, you should be able to easily counter act it

and just cause some moron doesnt know how to use their new skills doesnt mean the characters havent evolved and changed, its like saying why have a life bar in a game all the morons are just going to use a gameshark to beat the game

and if you dont know the story then check here

the plot is long and too much to describe in one post

  9. I'd actually like a nice mix of old and new, kind of like what the KoF series does each year.

Enough of the popular old favorites to draw people back, but enough new people for the old school fans. Capcom has to have SOME method of drawing in fans who haven't played since SF 2, so it needs enough old school characters to do it.

But I'd say more new characters than returners, and to make the new characters NOT freaks of nature.

  10. The more I think about it... This is the game to celebrate 15 years of SF. Not some random fighting game that Capcom had announced.

I'd be amazed if this is 3D, or, at least, has any 3D "elements" in its gameplay, and I'd be even more amazed if it were anything like the Vs. games.
