I wonder why "dungeon hack" games are so hated by people. They can be fun games too.
Because they're boring as fuck after a while. I played the snot out of Diablo. In 1997. Ive moved on. Sonic Team should too.

Yes it did. And you didn't answer the question.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  3. Actually it didn't really on this thred, but I agree. It would have been a great game in my eyes, if it weren't for the god damn random battles. Half the greatness of the game is exploration, but it's no fun when you run into weak enemies. I haven't finished the game due to this fact.

  4. Random battles ruin pretty much every RPG Thief~Silver. Im glad they're starting to fade away... albeit about a decade later than they should've.

  5. What if PSV was made for the GBA instead of a console?

    --Scourge .

  6. They should just add some time travel plot to Phantasy Star 5. Have all the characters return from each era.

Not entirely true, in some cases they aren't bad, but I agree that they are no where near as cool as being able to avoid enemies. When the random battles are completely different each time, or remain constantly difficult, then they aren't too bad.

Disagree completely. The only reason random battles piss anyone off is because said battles are a chore. If the battle system is good, and fights enjoyable, random combat works just fine.

I agree with Frog about the music. It is definitely a major part of Phantasy Star's appeal. The setting is the major reason I love Phantasy Star. Other RPGs have better gameplay but PStar's world is just amazing.
Whoever did the music for PSO, lock him in a cage with a keyboard and cubase and never set him free, in case he gets hit by a car or something. Some of those tracks are just incredible.

I remember one of the first times I was online, really late at night, and nobody was around in the lobby. I stood there, with my character staring out at the stars, just absorbing that music for a good 5-10 minutes. And I wasn't even stoned or anything.

The only old PStar I've played is II, and I really hate it. But the setting and style are definitely excellent, and Sonic Team did an incredible job of updating it for PSO. Hook them up with an actual writer, and I'm all for them doing an offline epic.

  10. I love Skies of Arcadia; its one of my favorite RPG's ever. Eat it, suckers
You probably don't think I'm a very nice guy...
