Thread: Should Phantasy Star return to its offline roots?

Heh, I wouldn't be so bitter about it otherwise. The graphics were beautiful, the soundtrack wasn't bad, and my DC was in severe rpg withdrawal.

I kept saying "this is good...it's going to get better any minute now...I know the next part will reveal something cool to make everything that happened seem better." It never came, and 962 lambda bursts, and a cliched final boss and ending later, I finally had to admit my favourite system's big rpg hope couldn't hang with the best - or even the second tier - on playstation. It took me 6 months to plow through Skies, 2 weeks for Shenmue.

Like I said, it's like Kayama or whoever went to Overworks and said "we need our own Final Fantasy, make it!" And they did just that.

    He wishes.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  3. I didn't really enjoy Grandia 2. It seemed too much like the first but with a horrible plot and about half the length. Great battle system though.

Grandia 2 was more focussed on dungeon design and gameplay, as opposed to Skies which was trying to excell in the story and characters department. IMO the dialogue was atrociously bad, incredibly bland and predictable... and the story was awful.=\

Bah, it was a POS made in Overworks marketing department. I hope that they just stick to action games, it's really what they do best.

  4. Thief-Silver, do you exist just to suck the fun out of things for others? Geez
Actually I could have done a lot more to that guys fun.

Anyways, I still haven't finished Skies, I stopped after the Dark Rift at the next air battle. I said this, "Oh great, 4 ship battles in a row, I should just go to bed" and I haven't touched it since. You basically spend the whole time diving around waiting for the chance to use your big weapon.

How the hell does mean noob?

  5. Jeremy can call anyone a noob with his post count.

  6. I voted yes. And I really hope PS1's rerelease on PS2 will make it to the west.

PSO was fun for awhile when it was just out.
    !

  7. Can someone explain to me in what way the Skies ship battles are anything other than a semi interactive aquarium? They were incredibly slow, shallow, dull, and repetitive. They were the worst part of the game, and that's saying something.

  8. Thief, it's great (and spooky) to know that you could do more to ruin the guy's fun. Geez man, just let someone enjoy the game. I don't mind seeing anyone express their opinions, but your post seemed to exist just to take the wind out of his sails. xS, indeed. My post count is TEH R0X0RZ!

    That's awesome.

Oh yeah, I thought of something else good about Skies - the menu sound effects kicked ass. Anybody who knows way too much about videogames know if the same guy/girl did Shinobi's? There seems to be some resemblance.

  10. Have I really been only doing that? I know I do it a lot but I'm self-assured that I also contribute a decent opinion and idea a great deal of the time as well.
