Thread: Should Phantasy Star return to its offline roots?

  1. Much as I'd like to see a new offline PS, I would kill, maim and destroy for a new PSO that had multiple planets with multiple continents, each with multiple areas.

I suspect I could play something like that until I died from neglecting to feed myself. And happily at that.

But thank god, Sega is doing neither of those things, they're making card battles online.

  2. If there is a problem calling it PS V, just call it Phantasy Earth. Wasn't that the name of a game supposed to be released for 32X or Saturn and was never released?
    No gnus is good gnus.

How did it end anyway? Disc 2 (past the rift) was my quitting point, so summerize from there if anyone'd be so kind . I actually enjoyed quite a few elements of Skies, but it was just horrible to actually play it.

I hope he uses the spoiler tags, cause I may finish it one day... probably not though.

Wow, nearly a 15:1 vote for yes, and I'm actually surprised that 4 people said no.

  5. Whoever did the music for PSO, lock him in a cage with a keyboard and cubase and never set him free, in case he gets hit by a car or something. Some of those tracks are just incredible.
Yeah Ep1 had some great music, but the ones in Ep2 just flat out knocked my socks off, especially those remixed
versions of the classic PS tunes.
Right, because if anything validates the existance of a handheld piece of shit, it's taking those shitty handheld games and placing them on a screen big enough so that the inherent flaws of the software is visible to all humans. Including Ray Charles.

  6. I think that it would be best if Sega would contract some team like Tri Ace, Red or camelot for a new Phantasy Star. Overworks has no RPG talent at all, Sonic Team is too busy making new PSO and Sonic games, and Smilebit should stick to their Panzer franchise if they want to make a new RPG.

Camelot, is the only team I'd say is worthy of touching the Phantasy Star series. Just look at what they've done with titles like Shining the Holy ark and Golden Sun.

  8. I think Camelot would be horrible with Phantasy Star... Ok not that bad, but everything they do is so different from other RPGs, and Phantasy Star never seemed to me like an extremely different RPG series. Plenty of teams are worthy of touching the Phantasy Star series... but who would it be?

  9. They just need to:

bring back the character designer/artist for PS 2/4

bring back the story writer for PS 1-4

bring back whoever did the music for PS 1-4

As for programmers, it makes no difference really

  10. Valkrie Profile is better than anything Camelot/Sonic Software planning has ever done.:P
