I guess I just wasn't paying attention, then. Is the code, perhaps, located in the actual save-slot data? Because I never really bother looking at that stuff. All I wan't to know is that my game saved properly.![]()

Yeah, that's Priere. I got bored at work last week...Originally Posted by Captain Vegetable
I found the actual font Nippon1 used on the box cover, though. It's "monotype corsiva," so I used that for the RedCoKid part. I'll attach another example.
I saw BG&E PS2 at Best Buy last night. 2 copies left. At this point, I'm tempted to just forget about the framerate issue and use my $5 GCN reserve ticket toward the PS2 ver. I don't know how much longer I can hold out.
I bought the PS2 version Friday night for $40 (new reduced price). I've made it up to the Neutriphils Factory, and here are my thoughts so far:
Let's get the bad out of the way first. First thing I noticed wasn't the framerate but camera. It took a good 30-60 min to untrain my habit of wanting to use L1/R1 instead of the R stick to rotate the camera. Fortunately, you can flip the axis of either or both of the 2 camera modes.
EDIT: The camera is perfect after you get used to it.
Second major pet peeve was the save system. You can create files but not delete them! What makes this worse is that when you have more than 1 save point stored, it lumps it with the previous save and makes the overall save size larger by >400 kb. The only way to get rid of a file and get more space on your card is to load your game, remove the card, insert a card w/o a BG&E save, re-save to the new card, and finally go back to the PS2 browser to overwrite the original. Sound tedious? It was.
Third and final problem was the dungeon health system. There are finite life refills in each dungeon, but sometimes (e.g. Neutrifils Factory) you cannot leave if you've used up your last berry basket or piece of bread. Therefore, you'll have 3 options: (a) either stock up on a ton of refills before entering, (b) don't use the refills until you get to the boss (if you purposely die, you'll start over in the same room with 1/2 your life... you can start over again & again as in Rayman 2), or (c) reload from the last savepoint if you took too much damage. Any of those strategies seem ugly to me.
Now for the good:
The graphics and especially the contextual lighting is great. The framerate hoopla is a big joke unless you're a graphics whore. I'm not, and as a result I only hurt myself by waiting 3 weeks for the GCN version to never show up. Voice acting is superb. The characters are endearing enough so that you feel an emotional attachment, and the plot is more suspenseful than a good X-Files episode.
I'll update later with a score and more impressions after I finish (10-15 hrs left... I have a hunch I'm slow).
The internet code... save your game, and attempt to save again. You'll see the code the second time.Originally Posted by Captain Vegetable

(1) Where is the entrance for race 3? I must be stupid because I just can't find it. Do I have to break the records of the first 2 races before the third unlocks?
(2) Is it possible to re-enter the dungeons (e.g. the factory) to take pictures of animals you missed? I can't seem to retrace my steps back to floors 4 and 5 because the elevator is broken, and some red laser beams switched on after the boss fight.
The photography and stealth sections are spectacular, but the puzzles leave me frustrated. I'm 10 hrs in, and I haven't even reached the slaughterhouse... I thought this was supposed to be short & sweet. Tonight I'm gonna buy a guide.![]()
