I think we all know that Kurosawa would have made the film with cyborgs, bodies bursting into flames, and a genocide mode had the technology been available at the time.

Yeah, I've seen it. It has a distinct lack of ninja cyborgs.Originally posted by Kentaochstoffe
Have you guys ever heard of the great movie the magnificent seven? Its a remake of seven samurai only in westerns setting.
Well here's what GameSpot said about the game:
Yea, it may end up being nothing like Seven Samurai, but if it turns out good, the play's the thing, right? At least that's what so many of you talk about. What we found was a game that's easy to pick up and play, looks very good in motion, and could end up being a lot of fun.
Seven Samurai 20XX plays much like... Sega's Shinobi for the PS2.
Dreams was a great movie.I also don't think Akira Kurosawa would have had any right to stop production of this game, its not like his film history is flawless anyway. If you have any respect for the man, make sure you never see "Dreams".

I agree. It may be very slowed paced but that was no problem for me.
People just need to understand the change in Kurosawa's films after his suicide attempt in the '70s. Movies like Ran, Dreams, and Rhapsody In August are a lot different from his older movies, though it's all obviously Kurosawa. Ran was the most well-received by critics because it's the most like the older movies (well, most like the ones that most people have seen), being a period piece and all.

Ran was the most well-received by his critics because its so amazing. It is the best film ever made.
Kagemusha was made in 1980, too, keep in mind.
And Kurosawa did, to my knowledge, say that his last film would be Ran. But just like Michael Jordan, he couldn't stay away, which explains that quirky last spurt of films before he died. It also explains, I guess, why all of those are so different from his others.
Well, that tooRan was the most well-received by his critics because its so amazing. It is the best film ever made.. I still prefer Seven Samurai for my "best film ever" slot, though. Just watching Seven Samurai and Ran back to back (better free up a whole day, heh) really illustrates the difference between early and late Kurosawa.
