Thread: E3: Boktai Impressions

  1. E3: Boktai Impressions

Leave it to Kojima to think of the strangest, most convoluted things. Just look at MGS2...

    *ahem*

Boktai was only on video and demoed during E3, but the game sounds quite original. You play as a vampire hunter and to make things as real as possible, the GBA cart comes equiped with a device to pick up solar light. That's right - depending on where you play (indoors, outside, day, night, cloudy, sunny, et al) dictates the game's time of day. Fighting enemies at night is a tough feat, but play outside and the game turns to day, making your character stronger, enemies weaker, and for bosses daytime is the only time where you will be able to defeat them.

So I guess the only question to ask is; will a 'play outdoors' GBA game be what finally makes gamers unafraid of being seen with the portable in public? Or will they balk at another creative idea, citing any numerous reasons that playing in sunlight is somehow a downfall?

  2. Every time I see the title of this game, I think "Bok-Choi," the Chinese vegetable dish.

  3. If you ask me, this could become one of the key-releases on GBA this year. Play your cards right Kojima, and we might just receive an extremely cool videogame.
