Thread: Revisiting Phantasy Star Online I & II

  1. Revisiting Phantasy Star Online I & II

After buying the GC version of PSO I&II , I played for a few hours and leveled up to about level 22, but then I stopped playing. Maybe I played too many hours on the Dreamcast, or maybe I had great expectations on new levels, items and creatures. Either way I stopped for months. I finally got around to forging ahead through the ALPHA/BETA areas to access the new areas. The Jungle is a beautiful site and I find the new creatures, traps and areas have recaptured my interest.

I guess I was looking to see from more experienced GC players:

Are you staying in the new areas?

What happens after you complete the new areas and defeat the final boss? Does that open up the HARDER Levels?

I feel I am at a crossroads here. My character is level 24 and I probably should go back to Ver 1 and get into the RUINS and look to take on Dark Falz.

I also have a question. There is a door across from the Warp that take you to and from the LAB. The door does not open. Is it just there for looks or is there a way to eventually open the door?

    Thanks

    Dustin

  2. I think that door opens up when you go on the Online "Shop" quests.

    Uhm, yes.

How much of the DC version did you play?
Right, because if anything validates the existance of a handheld piece of shit, it's taking those shitty handheld games and placing them on a screen big enough so that the inherent flaws of the software is visible to all humans. Including Ray Charles.

  3. The DC version, I made it to Ultimate Caves. I think my Ramar was around level 120 to 130. I think I may boot it up and check him out for old times sake.

If my questions seem remedial , its just because I am not familiar with the new areas and if it works the same as the DC version. I assumed it did, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks for answering the question on the sealed door.
I never bothered with the online piece due to the lack of the keyboard.

  4. I played the first Dreamcast PSO for a good 120 hours. I bought Version 2, but only took my Humar to level 27 and never took that version online.

I've been thinking about getting the GC version, but I'm hesitant, as I don't know if the online community is thriving there. Is it?

  5. It's thriving but it's become full of dupers and hackers, just like on the DC, but maybe not as bad.

I've pretty much given up on PSO; all the duping and hacking just destroys your motivation to play.

  6. It's safer than the DC environment. PSO is still pretty fresh for me - played v1 right when it came out, got to level 100, and never touched it again (didn't play v2 either).

I just got the GC version in Dec. and started online in April. I'm having fun with it, but I'd really like a keyboard.

  7. i am actually coming back to the gc sometime next month. it will be interesting to see how the community has changed. the ep 2 behave the same as ep1, they get harder for the first three difficulties, and ultimate add weird new guys same as in ep 1 ult. you only have to defeat one episode to go on, if you beat dark falz, you can do ep1 and 2 hard.etc..

I will be coming back with frostwolf, my lev 110+ fomar. so i will bring soemexperience with me.

  8. I JUST got the Xbox version and I'm loving it. I chose to get the Xbox version because it's simply more convenient for me.

  9. Stupid question: can you play opponents on different platforms?
    No gnus is good gnus.

Nope. System specific. Originally GC and DC players were going to be able to play together but they scrapped it because of cheating.
