Have you like... been in an arcade? Ever?

    Anyway, my faves are:

    Daytona USA
    SuperGT
    Power Drift
    Rad Mobile
    Out Run
    Stun Runner
    Enduro Racer
    Skitchin'

Uhh yes. Anyway, I dont need to answer to you, I posted why I like PGR.

Like I said I think Sega racing games suck, and well that eliminates most of the arcade racers that people consider good. Plus I'll will take PGR over Skitchin' any day. Not to mention that I did say how much I enjoy Ridge Racer.

I never said it wasn't good, but it's not arcade in any way shape or form. It's point based, and controls like a simulator. It wouldn't even make sense on any format but a console.

  4. Uhh... point-based? Like what? Daytona USA? Going into more detail can help.

And I dunno, the game's control definitely has an emphasis on powerslides and fast speed. If you ask me, it feels a bit like Ridge Racer in this regard. Seriously. The Kudos system demands a bit of technical exactness, but seriously, if we're talking about technical exactness, keep in mind that F355 Challenge existed in the arcades. F355 "controls like a simulator" far more than PGR does or ever dreamed of doing.

  5. RadMobile from Sega in the arcades was amazing at the time, I played the living hell out of it. Beating the game in first was a major accomplishment for me the first time I did it. The dangly Sonic off the rear-view mirror was just fun to watch bob and twirl, too.

Rush 2049 took way too much of my time on Dreamcast.

Ridge Racer 4 is still my favorite racing game on PS1.

Between Burnout 2 and Midnight Club 2, the PS2 is getting quite the racing love as well.

Turbo, waaaaay back from the early days of the arcade. I loved that game, my sister and I used to compete at it all the time to see who could play the longest.

Like it wasn't a race to the checkpoints short play thing. It was all about earning those Kudos. That wouldn't make any sense in the arcade. It was a totally different, completely console oriented format.

  7. There are parts of it, Frogacuda, that are all about beating guys to the end of the race. Like you start off with in a field of six, and try to become #1. That's one mode of the game, and it plays very much in the style of a "regular" arcade racer. There are also one-on-one modes.

And like I said the kudos thing genuinely inspires competition and the desire to one-up the last effort.

Not to insult you, but Im not sure you put all that much time into the game.

  8. Woah!

How can you not like any Sega racing games if you like racing games at all? From Outrun/Super Monaco GP - F355 is a freaking long line. Racing is like in their blood. They have skills in that genre, no doubt about it. Indy500 is also a crazy one people should try if they passed on it.

My advice is to give F355 and Sega Rally 2 a decent chance. You'll become a believer. I remember people not giving VF a decent shot until part 4 and look what happened then.

  9. I can't really rank them all, but Project Gotham Racing is near the top.

  10. I tried both man. Hated them. Im serious. I dont like Sega racing games. Something about the style. The only one I kinda liked was Daytona, and even then - it was just the first course. I hated the other two.
