Thread: Favorite Arcade Racers

  1. But, like Ashod said, there is a mode in Project Gotham Racing which is exactly that. Gold medal for 1st, silver for 2nd, bronze for 3rd, new car with all golds. Does that not count?

I do when somebody empirically states that Sega racing games are the best, like Frogacuda did in that one sentence.

No, because not getting enough kudos can make you fail to qualify.

The only things you need to do to qualify in Quick Race mode is to pass the other cars, reach the checkpoints and cross the finish line before time runs out. Any kudos you pick up in Quick Race mode are just added to your main kudos total and have nothing to do with qualifying in the race.

Daytona USA is the best arcade racer ever coded. Honorable mentions go to Sega Rally, Super GT, Manx TT, and Ferrarri F355 Challenge. No one even comes close to Sega's racers, so second place doesn't even matter.

  7. Wave Race 64
    Wave Race Blue Storm
    Ridge Racer
    Ridge Racer V
    Ridge Racer 4
    Mario Kart
    F-Zero (all versions)
    Outrun

  8. 'nother vote for PGR.

I'd be considering the Xbox versions, but assuming they're roughly the same.. which is better?

  9. the xbox version of burnout 2 looks a bit better and has an expanded crash mode. i have no idea about the xbox version of midnight club 2, but i'm very interested in hearing how it stacks up to the ps2 release.

  10. ep: Yeah. I meant Burnout 2 PS2 vs. Midnight 2 PS2 though .
