Thread: Majesco Announces GBA Video Pak

  1. Majesco Announces GBA Video Pak

Majesco recently announced their new Game Boy Advance Video Pak. This technology will allow gamers to watch streaming video and audio on their GBAs without having to use external hardware. It will be able to handle approximately 40 minutes of quality video (live-action, anime, traditional cartoons, or CGI). The videos will run at a minimum of 20 frames per second in 15-bit color resolution, and will also use streaming 8-bit, 32 khz stereo sound. The technology itself is a regular-sized GBA cartridge. The video pak uses standard player controls and allows viewing on 100% of the screen.

Majesco states that it is currently negotiating with major studios to secure content and plans to release a full line-up of video product in time for this year's holiday season. More information about Majesco and its products can be found at http://www.majescogames.com.

  2. Interesting....

I guess it all depends on what they release for it.

  3. I don't know. Could just be the optimizer in me, but...why stereo sound?

Even if you have headphones, you really won't miss a whole lot with mono.

Reason I say this is because stereo sound requires twice as much file space as monoaural. Particularly when you consider, many times you can't even tell the difference.

    They should ditch the stereo.
