Thread: New DDR style game for DC

  1. New DDR style game for DC

    Check it out:

They say its like DDR but with more of an emphasis on 2 player combat (pull off combos and speed the other guy's arrows up, make them wobble, etc). Not only that, but it will include support for "swap disks" (play your own songs with your own graphics), and they will be providing tools to aid in the creation of custom songs. There is also a typing mode where letters scroll up the screen instead of arrows, and you have to type them in rythmn. Cool. Dancepad and keyboard compatible. With its budget price tag, I'm more than a little interested.

  2. So, it's going to be commercial, eh?

I really didn't like the beta version all that much. Bland music, and nothing too special on a whole.

Now, a DC port of Stepmania, on the other hand... Mmm. I'd like that.

  3. Bland music or not, I can't pass up my own songs on the DC.

  4. Very interesting. Thanks Chibi

  5. I've followed it a bit as it's pretty ambitious for a console homebrew. The big problem I see is the narrow scope of the gameplay (dancepad, keyboard) will draw fewer sales than a homebrew shooter, action game etc. How many people are going to buy it to tap along with the d-pad? Hopefully they can distribute this to one of the overseas mail order houses as Japan gamers would probably jump on this.

Anyway, I wish them luck as they have been very committed to this project. *-neo

Well, pretty much anybody interested in this probably already has DDR on the Playstation, and already owns the mats/dance stages. Buying the PS to DC adapter isn't that big of a commitment.

Anyway, one way or another I hope we see more of these DC homebrew/commercial efforts.

  8. Yo, I just went out into internet land and downloaded and burned the beta release of this thing. Instant purchase. They really did an amazing job on everything, right down to the character design. The "battle" element does a ton to alter the feel of the play as well. Great job!

  9. Sweet how they used the free KallistiOS toolkit to make the game.

  10. Haha! Typing of Fury mode! Excellent.
