Thread: The Hulk

  1. The Hulk

Here it is. I know a limited number of folks here at TNL will actually get pased their liscensing bias enough to pick this up, but here's the "official" thread anyway.

I think it's a beautiful game. And Eric Bana's voice adds an element of coolness.

Full review later...after I've seen how many of you actually care about it enough for me to waste my time writing one.

  2. HULK SMASH, SMASH THREAD!

To be honest I'm not a fan of "The Hulk" so I really don't have any interest in this game, I'm not saying it isn't good but just not my thing... now if it was a wolf type character that would catch my interest

I'll still look foward to what your impressions are though on this game

  3. Just curious, but does the movie (or game for that matter) has the Lonely Man theme from the TV series? One of the best themes ever!

If it did, it would probably be remixed by Puff Daddy or whatever he calls himself now.

I have no interest in this game or the movie it relates to. There are just too many unfinished good games to bother.

  5. I've got no interest in the flick, and I haven't seen very much in the game that excites me in the least.

  6. I downloaded the demo for the PC and it ran like crap, but I could see a fun game hidden in there. I will be picking up the PS2 version once I clear a few more of these games I haven't finished up yet.

  7. I'm interested in your opinion on the game. What system are you playing it on?

I've always enjoyed The Hulk. It was my first comics subscription ever -- I actually subscribed to Marvel's Godzilla, but it was just in the process of being cancelled so I decided on Hulk. Kept reading Hulk for a few years I guess. The TV show was awesome in its day, even though you only got to see Hulk at the half-hour and episode-end points (talk about formula). The "lonely man" piano theme, as you call it, was rather haunting and melancholy. Always sad how Bill Bixby / David Banner would wander off alone again at the end of each episode.

Well, the game & new movie are nothing like that though. I'm very interested in the Hulk movie but I honestly don't expect from it except lots of CG-realized Hulk scenes and a chance to gawk at the actress who plays Betty. The game seems like it just might be a great smash-a-thon, the greatest Hulk game ever, which doesn't say much.

Genesis had a Hulk game which seemed pretty cool at first, then after a half hour of playing it grew tedious. The greatest Hulk game has got to be Capcom's Marvel VS Capcom / MSH fighters.

Anyway, give impressions please -- I'm thinking of trading in some beaten Cube games and getting that version.

  8. I dug the PC demo of the game. It's pretty short, not even a single level, but it's fun nonetheless. Basically, you're looking at a beat-em-up where you control the Hulk. Most items in the environment (at least in the demo) are destructible or can be picked up. Hulk has a number of different attacks available- he can punch, which can be held to charge up damage; a dash that can be comboed into punching or jumping attacks; a grab/pickup move that can be used to pick up enemies and weapons like cars, poles, etc.; a clap that sends out a shockwave to stun enemies; and a jump that can be used to launch attack combos. You can also powerup with little glowing balls of gamma energy. I didn't really read the docs for the game so I'm not sure what they're really called. The level in the demo is a gas station in the middle of a desert (a setting I'm guessing is from the movie) and you're attacked by waves of soldiers with guns and tazers. Eventually choppers drop in a tank which when defeated, ends the demo.

Fun little deversion. Probably not going to be the deepest game in the world, but I felt a distinct enjoyment at pounding the living crap out of the soldiers who rushed me. Being able to charge the punch mid-combo also adds a nice sense of doing more damage. I'll probably check out one of the console versions since I prefer those controllers over my crappy PC gamepad.

And the demo ran silky smooth on my PC, which is a P4 2.53 gHz with a GeForce 3 Ti200.

Bite your tougue, bitch! P Diddy invented the fucking remix

Anyway, I dled the PC demo, and it ran like crap on my comp too, but I could tell I'd probably like the console versions quite a bit. I tried renting it yesterday but they didn't have it (is it out yet?)

  10. I'll stick to the Genesis and SNES Hulk game until this one drops to the $20 mark. It seems like a fun enough game, but not one worth $50.
