People want Halo 2, and Halo 2 only.
Well, certainly didn't take long for another topic header with "Halo killer" in the title, did it? I always enjoy those "MGS killers" and "DMC killers" and all that stuff. Whee! PR fluff!
That said, the only thing that sounds particularly interesting from the presented line of specs is the soundtrack being done by a symphony. The rest is too vague to tell anything, although seeing as how it's on a PS2 I will now utilize prejudice and predict its life in the land of bad control. Tell me when it's announced for PC, and hopefully it'll stand up to the beautiful glut of FPS' coming. Not likely, but I suppose anything's possible.
PlanetSide's supposedly more like Tribes than any of those games, and it apparently does offer a unique experience, what with the massively multiplayer aspect. I haven't played it, so I don't know for sure.Originally posted by Andrew
Saint of Killers: Exactly. An online FPS seems alright, but when you have Unreal, Halflife, Doom, Quake, Serious Sam, Medal of Honour, Halo, Serious Sam, Red Faction and Deus Ex already out and FREE, why should we give up our money?
It would have to be REALLY fun and polished. Unfortunetly, all online games thus far look like glitchy pieces of garbage.
Bingo. I haven't played the first Tribes but everyone I know who has says they're very much alike. Having so many people on a server is damned nice, but it can mean that battles will move slowly. When you have a well-armed force of fifty soldiers assaulting a fully-powered base with a good thirty-forty soldiers that have constant access to tanks and anti-infantry heavy weapons... well, it can take a couple hours of a firefight before progress into the base can really be made.Originally posted by Saint of Killers

None of the games mentioned are really even close to the scale and sheer number of people involved in a siege in Planetside. I won't say it's as immediately gratifying or pure skill-based as something like QIII, but it's the best at simulating large-scale war.
So I'm assuming you either have it or played the beta? How about an official thread with in-depth impressions? Despite the fact that I can't play and I probably wouldn't be willing to pay for it if I could, the game intrigues me to no end.
