I agree with Mr_Furious 100%, I find DH's editorials to be both refreshing and entertaining.

Come to think of it, hearing his writing being read out loud would probably sound quite funny with the right drama inserted.

I've always been a big fan of Dave, thoroughout all the different incarnations of his written word. His editorials are always entertaining, if nothing else, and I love the fact that he champions some of the niche games that most other magazines "don't get".

As far as the quote about Vanessa for P.N. 03, it looks like he's found someone to replace Kelly, from Gun Valkyrie, as his dream girl.

I like him for his enthusiasm. I also like how he seems to love certain lesser loved games that I also adore (Hermie Hopperhead, Mischief Makers). I can't think of too many other game magazine journalists who have made a name for themselves the way he has. I've learned to take his reviews with a grain of salt. If he gives a game a 4/5 I just translate that to a 5 or 6 out of 10 (i.e. an average game). If he gives anything lower than that, I know the game sucks.

All in all I respect Halverson for the way that his magazine always seems so fresh and so clean clean. Yeah he acts like a five year old pixie on crack when it comes to games; but the enthusiasm does come off as more palatable than the whole "gaming is dead" thing that most of the gaming community has (me included).

And on top of that I have no idea why someone should allways rely on a game mag to tell them what to play (no matter how good). Thats like; the first rule of gaming, man! What did they teach you in school?
