    Gah!

I was enrolled in tae kwon doe for a year or so (3 years ago) and as we speak I am looking of a jujitsu possibly? dojo somewhere around here.

  2. Is that a question or a statement?

  3. I can't tell.

But I am taking Tae Kwon Do. And I get to participate in sparring for the first time tonight. Whoo!

  4. DJ been doing Tae Kwon Do for last 6 months, he is pretty good, and done well at the tourneys we went to.

Good luck man, and have fun. Just prepare for a HARD work, if you actually want to learn something.

    Tracer, those are hillarious

  5. Tae Kwon Do attracts a lot of hot chicks. That's the only thing good about that.

  6. That academy looks so badass.

I did Hapkido for 7 years, and even I would not feel ready or mentally prepared to go to practice in a Shaolin temple. I remember our teacher was actually gearing himself up to go train some more in Korea at the temple that birthed the actual Hapkido art, and he was a 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido and a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo - but even he was nervous as all fuck and was constantly working out like mad and preparing himself before he went. I talked to him after he returned and he said it was a good learning experience but the most demanding thing he ever experienced. You have to be tough as old nails to go do something like that man.

Now I could bring into question the validity of a school out there that has its own website but its 2003 and perhaps even the master schools out there are keeping up with the times... who knows. You say you've only been in Taekwondo for 1 year?... dude, talk to your teacher, talk to people who have actually went to this place and done the time and then seriously consider if you want to commit to something like this. Once you are over there, mom and dad wont be around to help you when you have very disciplined and harsh martial arts instructors turning you into mush.

But then again, they did buy you a hummer so who knows, they might be able to bail you out. But the way you have worded yourself in this thread makes it sound like you are only doing this on a whim, and not because you have thought long and hard about it. Good luck.

  8. WTF?! What happened to the rugged training in shante's and sleeping in rat infested shacks training camps of yesterday? This is a camp for pussies.

I have been thinking about this for about a month or so, its not just oh a whim. As far as being blackbelts in various arts, it does not matter to me, I'm not there just to learn martial arts, but also the wide variety of other stuff they have. As for the training, I know it will be hard as fuck but I'm willing to put up with that, its not like I've never been outside before...

  10. I know a few fellows who have gone to train at Shaolin temple and other places in China. They said that the facilities are humble, but quite well kept. As for the training, the teachers push you hard, but are not out to kill you from exhaustion.
