Thread: Now that I finally have a Game Boy Player, catch me up!

  1. I already have SFA3 on Dreamcast, so I'll skip the GBA version. Sea Trader's ship to ship combat basically works like this: Your ship is ranked in several categories (which you can improve through customizing and improving your ship), and you issue commands like Flee, Fire, Board, Hail, Wait, ect. If you try to flee and you have a sail/mast system installed that is superior to your opponent's, you'll usually get away. If you have a heavy duty weapons setup onboard choosing to fire will do respectively more damage. If your hull is well reinforced you can take more hits. If you get another ship close to full damage and your crew is well trained enough, you can board their ship and take their goods for yourself. To call it menu based is misleading; you just don't ever have to steer the ship manually or shoot weapons manually, ect. It's not really more menu based than most rpg's. And I should say, the 2d art is impressive on the Game Boy Player. I don't mean "for a GBA game", I mean it's a sweet looking game on my TV.

  2. I don't yet have my GBA player, it's not at my local Target and Best Buy. Maybe I'll check EB in the mall...

Does anyone have Super Ghouls N Ghosts? How many new levels are there in the game? Are there enough new levels to make the game worth getting to someone who played it to death on the SNES?
    No gnus is good gnus.

  3. I am officially addicted to Advance Wars 2....

  4. why don't i like advance wars? it is not that great. maybe it's cause i'm not that great at it. i suck. i couldn't even get A ratings on the training missions. i delelted it after the training missions. it got way too hard

The Robotech game for the GBA is pretty good at what most places are saleing it at now, like 10$ Be warned though, the first two levels are the hardest.

I didn't like it either. I understand that it's a great game, but it just didn't click with me. Maybe because I suck at these kinds of games, or because lately I don't have the patience for any games like strategy or RPGs. I returned it and got Castlevania:AOS and was up until 3AM playing cuz I couldn't stop.

From what I remember, it has some levels from the Genesis version, as well as some new stuff. The ability to save after each stage makes it the best version (after the Saturn collection), IMO.

Woa, woa, woa... might that be a remake of the old C64/Atari ST game "Taipan"? Do you start off in a Chinese port (Zuangshao, or something), then go to the back of the bar and get a huge loan that you have to pay off in a certain amount of time? If so, yup, that's the same game. Enjoy it, the C64 version certainly did kick a lot of ass.

So many cool GBA games... so little money.

This isn't entirely correct. There are sections of levels from Ghouls and Ghosts, and Ghosts and goblins. The levels also have new sections weeved into them with all new boss battles. It really is worth it if you love GnG.

  10. If you enjoy games like Military Madness, Advance Wars should be on the top of your list.

Other games that no one mentioned, but I like are:

Namco Collection: Galaga on the road, nuff said.

Rock N Roll Racing: If this game is an exact port of the SNES game, be prepared to play a destruction racer, that makes Wipeout look tame.

Konami Collector Series "Arcade Advance": Chibi Nappa mentioned this , but the game can be found for $10 at Toys R US. Scrabble alone is worth the price.

Tony Hawk 2: If you have'nt already played the series to death, this is a nice translation of the PSX/DC game in an overhead 2-d view.
