the funny thing is, i thought this too, but cnn was saying that toward the end of his career, he reversed his position and became very pro intigration,cnn said he was the first congressman to have a african american aide. so perhaps we all should know more before saying this.

sleeve,do you actually have something to say on the subject,or are you just being sleeveboy. he seemed to lack a strong feeling one way or the other,he was a segregationist and a democrat when the south was predominantly democrat and segregationist. then he switched parties and mindsets with the political tides.
