Thread: Resident Evil GameCube *official*

  1. Well, there isn't a Gameshark for Cube as of yet, so if anyone's having problems going through the game, tough chiclets. BUT it looks like Capcom missed (perhaps intentionally) a major glitch in the game which can basically give you unlimited ammunition with the grenade launcher. I ripped the following from Gamefaqs...

    1) Put all items in item box
    2) Put Grenade Launcher in upper-left item slot
    3) Put Incendiary Rounds in upper-right item slot
    4) Close box
    5) Open inventory
    6) Equip Grenade Launcher
    7) Open box
    8) Select Incendiary Rounds from inventory
    9) Press ''A'' twice
    10) Move cursor to Incendiary Rounds inside box
    11) Press ''A'' twice
This works on any of the three grenade rounds, regular, acid or incendiary, and loads 240 of 'em into your grenade launcher! Though by far incendiary is the best, not only is it the most powerful, it looks nifty and torches zombies too so you don't have to worry about burning them with the flask to keep 'em from reviving as Crimson Heads.

Just a little FYI to anyone who's having problems with the game, on hard or otherwise, and just has to cheat a little...err, not that I would of course
    omg TNL epics!

Trust me you will freak out when the hunters come. Well you'll know what I mean when it happens

As for the gasoline thing it works like this. Each gasoline container has 5 refills in it, so you can only fill it up all the way twice. but if you go back after filling it up twice you can still get one more partial refill.

  3. Well, I said it before, only 1st gasoline barrel had 5 refils. Rest of them are only 4.

Yeah, I read about this code, GameFaqs said its for Japanese version, so I wonder if it work for US as well.

Got outside the mansion last night, and found Magnum Lisa Trevor was freaky.

Do you only fight Snake boss once in the Cube version? In original PSX you had to take it down twice.

  4. SPOILER

Do you really want to know?

    If yes then continue reading...

the remake stays true to the original.

  5. Cool I wouldnt mind to tackle the bastard one more time

Tried that code, and it works in US version. Gives you of 240 rounds of any shells you try it on.

Still I will try to finish the game relying on what I have for the first time. Next time I'm using the code to get through the game in 3 housrs for secret weapons.

  6. Spent more time last night playing it, and got pretty far. I have no problems managing ammo, since you can avoid many of unnecessary encounters with taking different routes, especially in the mansion.

In some spots its also just easier to run trough without fighting, like Crow room in the garden. Or bee room where you can just run in, grab insectocide, run out, and pump it in, and when you back they all dead

What really surprised me, was that I killed the Plant 42 boss without fighting him with Jill. Just went into chemical room, and made up the chemical, than poured it on the roots, and viola - its dead. Sure it grabbed me, but Barry finished him off, so I havent used any ammo to kill this BOSS. Now thats what I love, when game gives you various ways to deal with your foes

That Damn Huge Shark was annoying though. Ate me first time, and then I had to use like 12 shotgun rounds to kill it.

As for Second Snake encounter, he still sucked. 4 acid rounds and he was dead. Didnt even touched me once.

After playing through with Jill the first time, I was angered that I actually had to "fight" the plant boss with Chris. In fact I went around trying to find some way to trigger a cut-scene where Rebecca comes in and mixes the chemicals for me before I even thought about fighting him with ammunition. I couldn't believe that dumbass Chris didnt't know anything about medicine even though the mixing instructions are on the freaking wall. Still, it was cool to take different paths for killing a boss, it was a neat little twist indeed.

Yeah the snake is not difficult at all. A few shotgun blasts and he's dead, but man it sacred the crap outa me when he jumped out of nowhere the second time. I thought I had killed him and then all of sudden he pops out....freaky

As for the shark you do know you can just electrocute him and save ammo right?

And maybe it's just the difficulty setting, cause Im playing on hiking and all the fuel canisters have 5 rounds of fuel.

Right now I just beat the Residence with Chris, I have the Eagle medal, and I killed a few hunters in the mansion. Im already dreading going to the lab.....that area is pure monotonous hell.....

Everything I write is a spoiler of varying degree, so read on at your own risk...

With Jill, you don't fight the plant boss on any difficulty (if you use the V-Jolt). With Chris, you do (even if you use the V-Jolt). That's just like the original game.

Don't waste ANY ammo on the sharks... why would you? The regulars take 1 handgun shot after the water's drained, and the big one dies in a game event... why would you try to kill it when it's not attacking?

Hunters ain't shit... not even the stronger gray ones. By the time you re-enter the mansion, you should have enough acid rounds and magnum shells to make every single hunter in the game a 1-shot kill...

The spider boss is pathetic... it only takes 2-3 flame rounds to kill. Don't fight any of his friends or babies, just leave and come back and they'll be gone.

I used the shotgun on the last snake fight... I had quite a few shells lying around, and it's so slow that it didn't even hit me once.

Yeah, the fuel canisters give you 5 uses if you're playing on pussy mode. I haven't started up Hard yet (seeing as how I received the FF7 guide from Mech and have, against my better judgment, started that damn game from scratch again... what the hell is wrong with me?), but I'll post impressions on that soon.

Oh, and control option 3 is so weird... why not just play RE like I've been playing RE my whole life? I've always liked the controls, and, after the first 5 mins you play ANY RE game, you should get used to them.

I think this remake might be easier than the original... more ammo. Maybe not, but I remember RE being harder back then, and I don't think I've gotten any better... Hopefully I can start and finish Hard this weekend.

And it's good to hear that Despair can slow down his mad crazy Devil May Cry skillz to enjoy this game, too

Because Ive hated playing RE with the control setup Capcom has made the "genre standard" since day one, and control type 3 feels a lot better to me. Individual results may vary seing as some people do like the controls 5 minutes?? No, for me it was more like 30 minutes. I guess Im just retarded or something.
*A toast to full 3D controls in RE4

  10. i have to agree im not a big fan of the original control and didnt like it having the 3rd control option makes the game much more enjoyable to me
