Awesome...Maybe this game will be able to convert a lot of players that haven't given it a chance...

I really don't like this "new" (yeah, it's a few years old, I guess) trend of guides for EVERY FREAKING GAME that comes out. If a game ever NEEDS a guide to be played, then there is something very flawed in its execution. If the player uses a guide to get through a game without trying first, then (IMHO) the majority of the enjoyment and satisfaction regarding said game is lost. It's like watching a movie with someone who keeps telling you what's about to happen.

Now, buying a game to replay a game, like an RPG, in order to collect all the items, secrets, etc., is OK. I dunno. I hate guides now. I hate the way that people are shocked when they hear I beat a game without the guide. Know how I did it? Here's my secret! I'm not a goddamned retard!

    Jeez.
He may not be using the guide yet, maybe he just wanted to pick it up so he had for after he beat the game or for other reasons...

I like to buy guides often for the artwork and because they're interesting to read--they give backstory and character descriptions, etc. Of course it would kill the game to use the guide first off, but that's not why everyone buys them. For instance, I pick up guides to Working Design's games because they're designed really well and are interesting to read. Not sure about the RE guide, haven't seen it yet...

  3. Well, I like to get guides as well, but more for collecting purposed than for use during the game. Guides usually have character and enemy profiles and stories, stats, artwork and posters which are cool things to have. I seen 2 RE guides, but I'm not sure if I will be picking that up. I'm kinda low on the resources right now

.it really irks the hell out of me when I cant't see an enemy without "advancing" the camera only to be garbled up be a zombie the second I "advance" the camera. Lame
I think they do that on purpose for effect. Limited perspectives and such add to the game... a free-roaming camera would kill the effect. There's nothing like walking into a room and hearing the zombies slithering towards you, but not knowing where they are until it's too late...

I flipped through it, since it was at the counter when I went to pre-order the game last week. Looks like total ass (read: it wasn't made by Versus). Not like all Versus guides are great, but they're always better than the competition. I am still SO pissed that we never got a beautiful, helpful, 100% gamer-made SFA3 OR SF3 guide from them... WHY, GOD, WHY?

After Zero 2 most "hardcore SF" fans and players decided that everything Capcom made for the SF line sucked.

Plus I've heard tales of how horribly overbudget the Zero 2 guide was from them.

Yeah, their TTT guide was supposed to be like the ultimate guide to TTT but they cut so much it became worthless to anyone but noobs and really pissed off the community and people who worked on it. They gimped out on the CG art in that one too.

  8. Anyway, back to Resident Evil...

The carnage starts tomorrow (or today depending on where you live) and I havn't seen a single ad for RE: Remake. Has anyone seen any magazine or tv ads? Hey Nintendo! Advertise your big games you dope! Get the word out and maybe people will actually buy it!

  9. Damn, Its not out till tomorrow!!

I had a big plans for it tonight, Oh Well. I will pick it up tomorrow I guess.
