Thread: Castlevania LoI boxart

  1. #51
Mobil Light Force 2 box art anyone.....Street fighter Alpha Box art anyone....shit Mega Man 1 box art..how about that.would you rather have that kind of shit for a box art...or her style...i would take her style over that any fuckin day.I meen damn they have all pretty much been pretty boys to begin with.Alucard,Juste, and now Leon.all of them.so thats how they are drawn.Oh and lets not forget that most RPG main characters are scrawny little bitches themselves.but they still end up kicking ass.even if they do whine like a little Jedi BITCH...(looks at FFX main character)

And like its been said before the hand is too big,but the whole tone is wonderfull.

Its a shame most other companies don't use hand drawn art. dotHack had a nice cover for part 1 but there going for the rendered shit for the rest of them.so i am happy for what i get.

It's hillarious that people are upset that, if a male character is supposed to be 'kick ass' he should look it. No one complains that female characters don't necessarily 'look like they should'

Case in point - DoA. 16 year old girls with boobs much larger than any full-grown woman. And they're ninjas. And they 'kick ass.' No one complains about the belivability of that. In reality, do you you think a DD breast kid could fight effectively? If someone could fight, chances are they aren't going to have a huge chest; likewise, they wouldn't be soft in the legs, arms, etc.

No one complains about how realistic females are drawn or rendered. That's fine - but likewise, don't complain about a guy not looking like he can kick ass. Because the reality doesn't matter - characters looks as they do to appeal to a certain asthetic, demograph, audience, whatever. So either don't worry about ANY kind of 'reality' to a game's character depiction, or worry about it all.

So...if you have no problem with DoA, you shouldn't gripe that Castlevania's men don't look like they can fight. OR, if you are so repulsed by the ludicrous idea of 'pretty boys' fighting hordes of the undead, I hope your hyper-anal analyzation extends to the believability of women in games, too.

Anything else would just be unfair.

  6. Hey JB, .hack part 2's been out for a couple of months now, and it has a better Sadamoto-drawn cover than the first, last time I checked.

  7. I like the hand drawn cover art but I do agree that the art does make the badass vampire slayers look like a bunch of pussies. I can understand making Alucard look like that cause he is a pretty boy vampire but come on, leave the Belmonts alone! Go back to the He-Man look alike Simon Belmont on the cover of Snes Castlevania 4. The new PS2 Belmont doesnt look as faggy as the Aria of Sorrow guy though.'

At least put some facial hair on these homos for shits sake!
Korly-"Everyone here is an asshole, SURPRISE!"

  8. I don't mind messing with the Belmont style. I mean, we've gone from this:

    to this:

Doesn't look too pussy if you ask me.

Not that the older character designs for Castlevania games are horrible. Richter Belmont still works. It's just that Kojima's designs have been alot more interesting these past few years.

I'll give you Soma Cruz, though. He looked like a twig wearing a fur coat.

First off, the problem isn't that some characters look that way. Alucard was mighty damn cool with his design. The problem is that new characters, who are not vampires (like Meyer and D and Alucard) still look wispy and exactly the same. It seems more like she only does those type of characters, not that the story should dictate all new vampire hunters are pale, white-haired porcelain dolls. I understand the stylistic preference, but it seems like everyone thought Alucard was cool, so they just kept going with that.

Also, Hero, what are you talking about? People complain about the DOA girls, and others like Lara Croft, all the time. That's one of the most commonly raised criticisms among female anime/game/comic design.

It amazes me that anyone would want the character design to go back to this!
