Freaky new aquatic species found...

An expedition between Australia and New Zealand labeled NORFANZ (because the ship sailed near Nolfolk Island and is run in conjunction between Australia and New Zealand) has revealed some brand new species of aquatic life as well as some additional samples of rare deep-sea animals that dwell deep in the ocean bottom.

I've always been interested in aquatic life, especially the weird ones which live in the ocean depths. Angler fish and glowing shrimp are pretty weird... but they're nothing compared to the Pacific Spookfish, which has a built in magnetic detector in its nose which scans the ocean bottom for food via electric pulses or the bizarro Goblin Shrimp.

Then take a look at the creepy Fangtooth.

Imagine seeing some creatures inspired by these in the next Metroid Prime!

This stuff always creeps me out. Just think of the species that we don't know about. How ugly can they possibly be?

I use to read countless books on marine life when I was younger, especially the books on deep sea creatures.

The Viper fish is the craziest looking thing out there.

But gotta give props to the spookfish, which looks like absolute ass.

Hairy Anglerfish has to be the ugliest.

That's some interesting stuff, especially that Jewel Squid, with telescopic and normal eyes, light sensitive "cloaking", and the ability to hang in mid-water.
