Thread: New Spider Man show on MTV

  1. I just watched a small part of it while flipping through the channels.

The CG animation is poorly executed and the music really sucks. I didn't hear enough of the voice acting to get a solid opinion, but whoever is doing Spiderman sounds like one of those people who are supposedly retelling their success story for some weight-loss product: bad.

    This is nothing new.
I figured someone would say something like that. Thing is, not all teens and college-age kids like me and you are morons (gasp!). They could've made the Spidey show dramatic and interesting, but instead opted to make the show for idiots. The show lost me when Spidey didn't get to the bottom of why his friend was driving recklessly in a car and almost killing people. A bigger letdown that Justice League.

  3. I can't believe all of the crying here. If you want your stories all "adult" then go watch that shitty movie The Hulk. I think they captured the essence of Spider Man really well. And as far as seeing an origin episode, who the hell wants to see that again? Everyone knows how he bacame Spider Man. The show has violence, action, death, wise cracks from Spidey during fights and Peter Parker dealing with everyday problems. What the fuck else do you want?

  5. I watched it. It really wasn't too bad. I'll probably watch most of them but won't make sure I'm at home on time to see it.

You're intitled to your opinion but I think you are blowing it all way out of proportion. Everything was done well, it looks like they went for some kind of creative art instead of the same old same old and I think it works. When Spider Man crawls on a wall it looks like a real spider the way he moves. That's easily the first time I've ever seen that in a Spidey cartoon. I'm not trying to change your mind but I think you are magnifying any problems that it might, and every other CG show might have.

  7. sorry just didnt like it

hes still a human that can cling to walls he should move like a human that can cling to walls

not like a spider, unless again his whole internal physical structure including his bone and muscle structure are now not human and something else and hes never been that way
    but thats me

i found the writing weak but thats me, i do tend to be a bit critical in this area

the art style just didnt click with me, i dont know it was a weird almost too shiney cel shading i think i dont know ill have to look at it more to determine the exact reason why its throwing me off

i guess well just have to agree to disagree here with this one

  8. is not impressed. The show sucks so far. The animation style isn't all that great and the characters are too stiff. Ther plots are predictably droll and the wholely less interesting than the Fox series. What happened to Marvel? They went from creating great episodic story arcs to this crap, I'll admit to being slightly impressed at X-Men Evolution, but that's the first time they've done anything I liked in a long while.

  9. Jesus - you guys are sure critical of this show

I dont really think its half bad - I'd rather watch this than some of the crap Spiderman fox eppy's that came out in the latter half of its final season. Yeah its not hand drawn but for Reboot style CG its pretty well done. Spiderman's animation when hes in motion looks pretty damn good to me. Storyline wise - its got some MTV teen angst crap in it , but I dont think there is anything wrong with a different telling of a classic characters story as long as its not totally bogged down by it... I mean its still Peter Parker - hes still got the same powers , hes still in the same city , hes still wearing the good ole red and blue costume, and he still kicks ass while cracking jokes and leading a shitty stressful life - whats not to like ?

Yeah I agree, I don't think its any of this 'pure shit' you guys are spouting off.

The only things I didn't like was how they did Electro and some of the animation isn't too smooth but other than that it was a good show especially in the Spiderman action parts. They rely on slow motion a bit much but hey it looks cool so not that big of a deal. I was surprised it had more violence than usual so its cool they are doing this show on a less kid friendly level. I hope he does some of the cool action he does on the show in the movie Spiderman 2 especially his hyper fast acrobatics and agility since its just an awesome display of his powers.

As Nigel said they don't need to retell his origin again, its been done a million times. I actually like the college setting too since I can relate in some aspects. I say give it a few more episodes.
