Rockstar North announces Manhunt, launches official site

Rockstar North have updated their website with an official press release announcing their latest game for the Playstation 2, entitled Manhunt. While seemingly similar in play style to the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar defines Manhunt as a incredibly dark, twisted game focusing on the seedy underbelly of society.

Details surrounding the game remain shrouded in secrecy. To date, Rockstar has only admitted this: Manhunt explores the depths of human depravity in a vicious, sadistic tale of urban horror."</blockquote>

The game is set to launch in the Fall on the Playstation 2 console, and as of yet is unrated by the ESRB (you can expect to see one of those fancy new "M" ratings on the box when it launches.) You can also check out the vague, popup-ridden official site here.

WOW! Rockstar North making a game based upon violence and low morals? I wouldnt've guessed! I think it'd be really funny if Rockstar North decided to make a platformer with a cuddly mascot, that'd blow my socks off and then maybe my gloves too.

Am I nuts, or didn't DMA (I REFUSE to call them their new name ;) make the original Lemmings game back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and hunted man for sport?
