Thread: More Gaming "Stuff", This October

  1. More Gaming "Stuff", This October

Looking to cut into the competitive gaming editorial circle, Dennis Publishing (who brought you the female laden mag, Stuff) has announced a special video game issue called - Stuff Gamer.

The magazine will feature the latest buzz in the gaming industry, cheat codes and in-depth reviews (without all the superficial technical jargon). It's the type of content which aspires to appeal to the hardcore and casual gamers alike.

(You know...who really is "hardcore" these days anyway?)

Simon Munk, who was originally on the launch team for Maxim in the UK back in 1995, will serve as the outlet's editor-in-chief .

"The huge video game industry has outgrown the basement and mall arcades," commented Munk. "And it has outgrown the spotty-nerd profile of existing video game magazines. It's high time for a magazine that doesn't just appeal to the hardcore, but to the vast majority of regular guys who're recreational gamers too."

Stuff Gamer will be sponsored by the Nokia N-Gage, and is scheduled to hit newstands this October.

  2. "Stuff Gamer is aimed at the millions of guys out there who play games but don't want to wade through pages of technical jargon, cheat codes and overly-detailed articles just to find out what's hot in gaming. The magazine will cut straight to the point - giving hardcore gamers the depth of information they need . . ."

Anyone else troubled by that? Are EGM and GamePro really that complicated? And how can you cut out "extraneous" info yet give hardcore fans "the depth of information they need"?

Sounds like Incite with slicker writers and a bigger budget. Oh, and less useful information. Is Stevie Case still hot? Maybe we can get some more cheesecake shots of her?

  3. Sounds like a bonfire waiting to be lit. :P

Just what the world needs, another fucking mainstream - take no chances- we'll give you good reviews if you advertise with us - big hooter'ed -magazine for people who play Madden twice a year.

    Thanks but, like, no thanks.

  4. hey. watch your language pottymouth, sir.

  5. We hardcore gamers can't be censored! (Except in thread titles.)

  6. Yeah!

...Wait! What did you call me? After posting my new staffers piece yesterday? "hardcore"? "HARDCORE?"

My prose is unread by the big enchalada, the big kahuna, the...

I can't say it. Bahn'll get out the ol' scissors. =(

  9. Did'nt someone already release this magazine about 3 years ago? I think they called it Incite.

Incite was rather lame and just had a bunch of stars playing games and hot chicks holding onto controllers. It was a real lame magazine and I'm sure Gaming Stuff will follow in the same mold, as Incite.

  10. Incite did have decent wrestling game coverage, and Crazy Taxi stuff, aside from that though... eh.
