Dammit, I wish I had the money for it when I saw this a month ago...
Recently I have procured Sonic Adventure DX and figured that, now that I have the money, I might as well nab Pinball Party for the game itself and to raise my Chao. However, I haven't seen it ANYWHERE since I saw it a month ago at Target. I asked at an EB in one of the malls I frequent, and the clerk told me that it was actually hard to get. Was the game discontinued or somesuch?
I believe the game was a store exclusive... either WalMart or Target or something like that. I've never seen it at EB, ever. I don't think GameStop has it either, but I could be wrong. Check on that.

Ah how do you like Sonic DX? I love it since all the improvements make the game really much more awesome.Originally Posted by ChaoofNee
I've been wondering about Pinball Party too, I hope it gets widely released instead of this store exclusive bullshit.

Shit, it is a friggin' Target exclusive. My girlfriend says she's seen preview boxes in EBs, though. Maybe a big release is coming... I'm checking the Target stores by me regardless tonight. I did call them, they did tell me they didn't have it, but I want to see for myself...
Will: I dunno, I haven't noticed too many big improvements. The framerate really irks me, too. Details like the maps, Tails flying around, and the nigh lack of load times are really nice, though. Otherwise, I'm playing through the game again to raise more Chao and to get the Game Gear games (my real draw to it).
Even though it's a wee bit off topic, this still follows the thread...
I think the GC Sonic Adv. DX got an unfair negative rep from most of the review sources out there... it's still a much improved version of a game that still is pretty damn good.
If you want to see a bad framerate, go back and play the original... I recently went back to finish getting all the emblems, and it's a goddamn slideshow sometimes.

Yeah I did a whole thing on it on another thread.Originally Posted by Mzo
Anyway, like burgundy said it could still be a widespread release since its in the summer catalogue.First off, the GC demo is far less stable and buggier than the full version, plus the slowdown is much more on the Emerald Coast demo than the full. I don't know why Sonic Team released it like that on the demo but the whole game is improved on many of levels.
Graphically it has a good amount of improvements. The water effects as I said in another thread are great and superior to the Dreamcast version with cool ripples and distortions. The character models all look very polished, sharp and better textured and are on par with Sonic Adventure 2's if not better.
Levels are really crisp and clean and you'll notice the Mystic Ruins looks much more bright and spruced up. The NPC's still look blocky but are they are really brightened up so its not as noticeable. Draw distance is also further back and there's less pop up. FMV from the Dreamcast version is all in but much clearer(the demo had the same DC FMV). I thought the quality of the Dreamcast's FMV was very good so it surprised me on how much sharper it looked.
Lastly in this category the framerate is blisteringly fast, especially in areas like Speed Highway and Windy Vally. Red Mountain still kind of suffers from slowdown which kind of sucks but the Dreamcast version by comparison is worse.
The controls are great since the GC pad is very comfy, even moreso than the DC pad and it affects the gameplay since I feel its much more accurate for this game. Shoulder buttons are for the camera and B and X are for dashing and so on.
As for extras it has alot of cool stuff. The Chao raising is much more involved and there are things like chao shops as well as connectivity to the GBA. I haven't gotten any of the GameGear games as of yet but I'm trying to get them. While I haven't played them in quite a while I remember them being pretty fun. It also has more missions for the levels, Dolby Pro Logic 2 supported sound(and overall better sound), BGM music selection and all that jazz. Oh and I almost forgot there's a map for the hub levels which is helpful.
Seeing as how I loved SA I was not disappointed whatsoever in this purchase. I feel reviewers didn't give it enough credit for the extra content and so far other than the spazzy collision detection and some clipping I didn't stumble upon a bug yet.
Regardless, I drove to a Target in the next county over from me to nab the game last night.Originally Posted by burgundy

Pretty damn good game. Only complaint so far is that it's overly difficult to cradle the ball. Mayhaps I'll have more impressions later...
