Thread: Shikigami no Shiro II home port

  1. Shikigami no Shiro II home port

Shikigami no Shiro II, the popular NAOMI-based arcade shooter, will be coming home to the GAMECUBE exclusively on October 24th. Yes, you read right. THE GAMECUBE. Not the PS2, not the XBOX. I'm totally happy about this!! Here's the japanese news link for proof:

Other tidbits: it'll be 6800 yen, and released by some Japanese company called Kid's Station. I doubt you'll see a USA release.

You can't say I don't get the news on Japanese shooters fast.

EDIT: I forgot to mention there will be a limited edition bundled with some sort of manekineko figurine.

  2. Too bad its GCN only- it would be nice for more to be able to play it. Speaking of which, I wonder if this will make a US release? If Ikaruga made it here, then...

  3. Yeah you're right, Ikaruga was released worldwide, so Shikigami II has a chance. But it'll probably be Mobile Light Force 84 or some butchered title like that.

Anyway DC borderdown on September 25th, then GC Shikigami II on October 24th! Too cool.

The good news just keeps on coming. First, Macross and now a shooter on the GC...

  5. Great news. I really want to try this game. If only I had a Gamecube...

    I was hoping for/expecting a PS2 release.

  6. At least they made it easy on the importers, with boot discs and mod chips readily available for the Cube.

I doubt it was their original intention in putting it on the Gamecube, but kudos anyway. :P

  7. Apparently alpha systems (shikigami's makers) opened a petition back on May 15th, and fans voted for which system they wanted Shiki II to be on. The Gamecube won. They had originally planned it as an Xbox exclusive port, but backed out on that due to the awful hardware sales of the xbox in japan. The GC makes more sense financially, and it's what the Japanese fans voted for so that's what they're getting.

Great to see democracy at work in the video game world.

  8. Ahem... that's "Alfa System"

  9. Will there be TATE?

  10. No DC version, as we'd feared. But GameCube is the next best thing: Import friendly, technically sound and a robust console. Better than the PS2 in those respects. It would have been better to have as many Naomi games on DC as possible though.
