Are you using Windows or Mac OS?

Windows: Try removing Illustrator and reinstalling.

    MacOS9: Delete the prefs from HD\System Folder\Preferences

MacOSX: Delete the prefs from HD\Library\Preferences or HD:System:Library:Preferences

If those Mac ones don't work, delete the folder and reinstall.

If it worked before and now it doesn't work, something corrupted the program. Good luck!

  3. using xp. what i meant by working before was before i reformatted last week. i used to get by all the time but rasterizing the type (never knew if it was the "correct way") but now the option is greyed out and unusable. course i could just make it in photoshop and transfer it over as another layer.....

  4. Did you have a plugin in the pre-format Illustrator that let you do it? Or did you upgrade Illustrator to a new version? Those are the only other things that would cause the option to disappear...

    Are the fonts Truetype?

  5. no i didnt use an extra plug in and ive been using illustrator 10 both times. yup their true type as well. its just weird. ive fixed it before but dont remember how.

  6. Very strange. No help from Adobe?
