Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy (official?)

Anyone else played the leaked beta? It's not perfect, but it's more or less done (severe problems regarding starting new games after rebuilding a lightsaber in another save game...) I think I may have to buy this when it comes out; hopefully they add some stuff to it though. The new saber styles rule -- the staff is powerful as all hell and the dual sabers have crazy priority and reach. And I really like how the game focuses more on decent saber action rather than mediocre FPS and shitty saber action like Outcast did.

Anywho, discuss away.

P.S.: The Taun-Tauns on Hoth are absolutely hilarious looking when they're in motion.

I done say this game look mighty purty.

But I haven't read up on it at all? Fill me in. There's now different style of lightsabres? I know you don't play as Kyle, but he looked like a pedophile anyway. Who's the new character?

Also, I hope it still has the tight playing game physics. Jedi Outcast II was so fun online. I wasn't all that great, but sometimes I'd get in to a groove where nobody could beat me.

Sadly Kyle returns, but as a Jedi Instructor for you and "Rosh" (your buddy of sorts). The main characters name is Jaden, but you customize them at the start (choose sex, race, clothes, and lightsaber settings -- hilt, blade, etc.) Hell usually when you make a new lightsaber its cause you're saving Kyle's pathetic ass.

Yes. You can have a standard single blade, a darth maul staff, or the Anakin-from-end-of-AOTC dual saber deal. The staff is 8 kinds of powerful, and the dual sabers are 8 kinds of awesome lookin. Attached image is of the main character (mine had a staff with orange blades) looking at a Sith Jedi using dual sabers and doing the special attack (which really looks awesome in motion).

I don't get it. I can run Q3 and JO perfectly fine, and I'm almost positive this is the exact same modified engine as JO. Yet, it runs like complete and utter crap on my system, ten times worse then Tron 2.0 multi was running and even worse then the Doom III alpha.

I don't get it, which is rather a shame as I'd like to play this game. I think something in the optimization must be off, as I actually get a better framerate if I turn the textures to High instead of Low.

Yeah, it's still a beta so a lot of the code hasn't been optimized yet. It ran fine on my P3 750, however, but I had all the video settings set on their lowest possible settings.

Ugh. Too...much...Star Wars...

C'mon, Galaxies just came out, as did KotOR. I'd be more excited about this one if there wasn't such a flood of SW games...

There's never such a thing as "too much Star Wars". Unless Jar Jar is somehow involved.....

well zero, you didnt even mention the new gamecube one thats comign out, but hey, 3 good star wars games-thats revelations-level rare, i am interested in the new one,as it looks like a very good action beat em up. Will it be a Greedo-may-cry?(ok, im a dork) but the screens at least have me very excited, i wish i had gotten the beta, but i am heavily anticipating this title.
