It's kind of annoying. When you're moving you have control of the camera but when you try to change it while standing still you're put into first person freelook mode, which can be disorienting.Originally Posted by Green
Played it some more, and my verdict so far is completely unoriginal but solid. MGS2: Super Violence Edition.
If I didn't have so much work coming up because of finals and stuff... I would have already got itOriginally Posted by Ragnarok the Red

I'm not sure about this game. I've played around an hour so far, and all it seems to be is MGS, Splinter Cell and Tenchu but stripped down and with a gritty atmosphere (I love the ambient music, though). Maybe later more layers will be added to the gameplay, but so far I'm just fumbling around and nearly every encounter ends with me having to fight it out instead of doing a sneak kill:/

You learn more... plus it's easy to go for kills, because you can knock on a wall, throw a bottle, throw a dismembered head (yay!), kick a garbage can... then you just wait for the enemy to turn around, lock on, and go from there.Originally Posted by Green
I'm REAL dissapointed in some of the kills... different types of baseball bats, but the same kill for each one? I'm pretty sure Rockstar could have made some minor differences between a wooden baseball bat and a giant metal one.
Plus the knife and the glass shard having the exact same kill? Weak.
Trying to figure out if you can use the nail gun for a stealth kill, because I want to see Cash go crazy popping someone full of nails. But the kills are espically violent, and they suit the nature of this game well.
Other than that, the game is a very well put together effort. The kills will make you go "WOW", the AI responds well, but there's some minor control issues, and sometimes the camera gives me a headache. Another thing is that you're rated at the end of each level on time and brutatlity, since I know some people like going for the best record. It really is like playing a version of "The Most Dangerous Game", espically once you get into level 4 and the gangs switch. The combat system itself is good... nothing awesome, but it works.
If this is something that interests you, and you're a fan of gore and stealth, buy it, definately. If you're on the fence, it makes a great rental. It's definately a good game, however.
I've also noticed some of the blood looks... not real, and it reminds me of the blood in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. But maybe it's because it's so late and I haven't yet slept.

A pretty interesting Manhunt review is up at 1UP.com. The reviewer gave it a 5.0.

I'm still on the fence about picking up Manhunt myself, especially since I bought like six other games earlier this week.
I'm liking it the more I play it, but keep in mind Tenchu 3 has gory stealth kills as well, plus they look cooler since you're a super ninja (stabbing peoples heads from above, ect). Maybe they could've emphased the sounds more because the kills don't seem THAT brutal. At least not as much as I expected.

If it's the level I think he's talking about, then yea, you HAVE to save at least one person, and the story shows you why. The story is linear because well, Cash dosen't have alot of chances to do his own thing, because it's either he follows the rules or he dies. From 1up's review...
Without giving too many details away, this level offers you the opportunity to make a moral choice. You, as Cash, can be a heartless killer, or you can try and save a few innocent lives. Saving those lives takes more effort than just cruising through the level and letting them die, but at that point I jumped on the opportunity to do the decent thing for a change. It took me hours of restarting the level, but I finally finished without letting any of the innocents die.
As it happens, though, it doesn't matter whether you save those people or not. Manhunt's story is completely linear, with no branching paths or alternate endings. That discovery makes me wonder about the motivations behind this game. I said before that I don't necessarily think it's just a sick fantasy, but the lack of an alternative to its non-stop killing makes me wonder what else it might be. Not only was I not rewarded for saving those people, I wouldn't have been punished for letting them die.
