Thread: Beat Takeshi?

  1. Beat Takeshi?

just wondering out loud but, does every "Takeshi Kitano"
film degenerate into a different version of "people playing games in a field/beach/wherever"?

  2. the only takeshi kitano movie i've seen is "brother" so i don't really know or understand the question.

Degenerate? So what you really mean is that you don't get Takeshi Kitano's films? Or maybe you were joking...

  4. I enjoy the movies. I don't know what I'm supposed to "get"
so I can't respond to that remark. And "story of man and boy
searching for mother" -----> "playing games in forest". Is
degeneration. For better or for worse.

but, explain what I'm supposed to "get". And I can tell you
if my post was really me explaining that " I don't get it", or
if it was what I thought the intent was. To understand what I
thought the intent was, read my question again, and use a literal
    interpretation.

Well, I interpreted your use of the word "degenerate" as "Having fallen to an inferior or undesirable state, especially in mental or moral qualities" instead of "Having declined, as in function or nature, from a former or original state". I guess I shouldn't have done that. As for why his movies always end up that way, I don't like to try to put a meaningful intepretation to it. It's like trying to explain why Kitano edits films the way he does. We can't get in his mind, so it's best to just go with it. I find that watching his films makes me understand exactly what he is saying, but not in a way that I can put into words. It's one of the reasons I love his movies so much and find their beauty to be rivalled by no other films. It just seems to fit in so well, and (if I had to interpret it) I guess it is an extension of one of the themes of his films: a return to childhood within adults.

And by the way, sorry if I sounded like a jerk at first, I didn't mean to.

  6. its cool. yeah, I always looked at it as a , no matter
what kind of shit you're in , or how old, or hopeless, or whatever,
you can always seperate yourself from that, and have fun.

  7. I just found 2 Famicom games starring Beat Takeshi, one of them an action game wherein you can beat up strangers on the street. Awesome.
    God is Rome

  8. Man, and I know what you're talking about. One of them
is Takeshi no Chousenjyou, yes? I don't know what the other one is.

I have a commercial of it.

find it here: ;_; . . . the site is gone, and so is my archive of famicom commercials. . .

eh, its just him sitting in a chair looking at the cartridge and humming a song. I have that and the BEBOP highschool commercial saved, but there were about 40 others. its a shame.

I was going to own it, but I was broke when the auction was up, and beaten pretty easily.

  9. The other one is called Takeshi no Sengoku Fuuunji, it's a bunch of mini-games hosted by him. It's very cool, his picture is on the title screen:
    God is Rome

  10. Hehehe, wow.
