Its a shame that the anime never made it past the first half of the second volume. Considering the whole story is only 3 volumes long, they could easily make another OVA and just finish the story. The anime was a excellent interpretation of the manga, in many ways perfect and in some ways even better. However, the anime dident even get the forest of spaceships, nor tell you about how the girls have been affected by the aliens, both the hostile ones and their own. The story dose get gory in the latter half, and even though there is a little bit to much crying, I would reccomend this anime to anyone, and the manga more.

And there is the limited Alien Nine Perfect Edition that has the OVA and 3 volumes of the manga thats coming out in September. Its sold.
