Thread: Trent Reznor pulls out of DOOM III.

  1. Trent Reznor pulls out of DOOM III.

From Shacknews a few months ago...

Nine Inch Nails fansite The NIN Hotline is reporting that due to the delays in getting DOOM 3 finished, Trent Reznor is no longer involved with the sound and music of the game. He is now working on a new Nine Inch Nails album instead. For reasons unknown, none of his work will end up in the game now apparently.
Kinda strange we've not heard more about this; Reznor had a pretty major role in the game development. It's also kinda funny in a way, when you consider on average it's about four or five years between NIN album releases...

The story (such as it is) is at http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/26522/ .
For a dark man shall come unto the House of God, and the darkness shall be upon him, yea, even within him.

    Fast forward, twenty years.

    Q: Trent Reznor
    A: Who?

  3. I like this quote off the Shacknews board on the subject:

On a scale of 1 - 10 on how important Trents stuff would have been for the final Doom3, it gets a 3.

    Big fucking deal.
    That about sums it up.
    omg TNL epics!

  4. Eh, I would have been curious to hear what he'd come up with, after the utter strangeness that was his Quake 1 "soundtrack."

  5. Woot, new NIN CD. Nice.

  6. Metallica should sign up to do the soundtrack for Doom 3. As soon as a monster is alerted to your presence they can play St. Anger; that will give every one more than enough motivation to either high tail it outta there or destory everything in sight to shut it off.

  7. Or just say "screw this" and go back to HL2.

But that will probably happen regardless of who does the soundtrack.

  8. Thumbs Up

    LOLOLOLOL DOOM3 SUCKS!!! HL2 FOREVER!!!!

    Go away.

  9. To be honest, though his stuff is generally good, I think the game would be better suited with an original soundtrack this go around, what with it going with the horror theme now.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  10. Who's Trent Renzor?
