Blizzard Entertainment announced today that over 1 million copies of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne have been sold worldwide. It was released one month ago and has since been topping North American, European, and Asian PC charts.

"We are very excited about the worldwide demand for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne," said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment president and cofounder. "We put a lot of effort into giving players more of everything that Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos offered, in addition to a host of new features, and the expansion set's popularity tells us that our long hours and hard work have paid off."

This is Blizzard's eighth platinum game, with others including games from the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo series. Reign of Chaos, the first expansion pack for the triple-platinum Warcraft III, adds new missions, heroes, monsters, items, and shops.

As an aside, this million-selling news comes a day or two after our Warcraft III review duet. Coincidence? Absolutely not.
