The four character limit is useless though, as a damn period could, in theory, take up one-fourth of a post. While it's a step in the right direction, it needs to have a higher character limit to be truly effective.

is fine. but is too few characters. I fear that this 4 character limitation will cause people to use emoticons that do not accurately represent what they are feeling . Laughing when they want only to smile.Crying , when they wish only to frown...

Is it so hard to find something to say before you hit Post Reply? If you want to throw emoticons around, do it on IM. The forums are not a chatroom, they are a bulletin board. Please at least say something of note or don't post.

Hell, even Jemery's "indeed" posts meet the 4-character limit.
