Thread: New stuff!

  1. New stuff!

Heh, I got a new scanner a while ago, so now I've finally got time to post up some of my recent work!
First off, let me say this to my friends waiting for wallpapers - Tripod's cutting back their web space to 20 MB. My art site was way over with the wallpapers, so I had to drop them for now. I'm planning to get a better web page building program or learn some HTML sometime to make a new wallpaper site, so when it's up I'll get to work on your papers. Sorry for the wait arjue, Fent and Hero.
Now, onward to the first bit of art!
I've colored most of my original Wizard's Mansion art, but I'll only show my top 10. (it'd be a long post for all of them!)

Some new work (I'll have more posted later, this was a two part update):
    Chad and Shelly - http://members.tripod.com/wildcatart/id303.htm
Collin and Jay (this needs to be cleaned up badly ) - http://members.tripod.com/wildcatart/id302.htm
    Fira - http://members.tripod.com/wildcatart/id298.htm
    Jay - http://members.tripod.com/wildcatart/id300.htm

That's all for now, I don't wanna do too many at once! I'll have more up in a day or two. Thanks for looking, helpful crit welcome of course.

  2. Progression, to be sure. :3
Your hair and facial types are starting to seperate themselves nicely. That said, try a little more variation in the clothes. There is some good stuff, with the overalls and with the cloak, but there are a lot of denim-panted people in there. I'm not sure what you're going for (shame on me), but despite the fact that friends often wear similar clothes, it doesn't make for interesting characters. Also, don't be so shy with the colors. Press down, saturate them a little more. There are some instances where lack of color is called for, but it's just a bit too light.

(X| If I'm being too harsh or picky, feel free to ignore anything I've said.)

  3. Heh, thanks for the advice Finch. As for the pants, well, I did do some skirts, shorts and other things, I just didn't post them. And pants are quite a popular thing, and I think I picked most of the ones I colored blue. And I just color lightly. Personal preference (to save lead). But maybe on some of the boss characters I'll press harder. I do appreciate what ya said man, thanks a bunch.

  6. ^^^who's this character?
I like them, but I'm giving suggestions today . First, in some of your pictures, most notably in the Marie (which when i clicked the link was spelled Maire in the title, just to let you know), the character is leaning in a funny way that seems really off balance. Unless she's leaning on a wall, you need to do something about this (which, right now I can't think of what it is you need to exactly do). I've noticed this in a couple of others where they are walking and leaning over like that. Center of balance thing
Second!, get some white/blank paper. Computer paper even, that's all I ever use anyhow. Those lines are never good.
And lastly, don't worry about conserving pencil lead. It's one of my worst problems, but if I do it, I notice that I always use too little or I get stuck with too light of colors, and then I can't figure out how to get the darker parts dark enough and some things are just better bold. One of my worst examples of this is my Lady X picture, which I did in photoshop, didn't even use real materials. I think it would have been much better if the colors were more dynamic (well, that and the smudge tool), but by the time I'd done so much, I couldn't really change it without starting over.
Well, that's it for my rant (this time ), your pictures become better each time I see them. Keep on keepin' on, buddy

  7. hideaki12 - Ahem. If you want to talk to me about something OTHER than my art, which is the focus on this thread, pm me. The Galleria is not Miwa Q&A. I won't answer you here, and any more posts like that will be deleted. Thank you.
Dunlap - Heh, I knew someone would call me on Marie. Yeah, she's on a wall. I'm fiddling with a few new poses and stuff, so some of them may not look too balanced. I'll keep that in mind. Also, I'm starting to use white paper at school, it's just I try to keep my bag as light as possible so it doesn't kill my back, but a few pieces won't hurt. And lastly, you caught me again. I don't like grinding my pencils to a pulp. But maybe I'll get over that silly thing and do that on what I color next. Thanks for all the crit buddy, I appreciate it!
